Boring maybe, but good value IMO when comparing fares just to PVG or HKG from Oz, and you still have plenty of other available flights/destinations included in the fare.

I can and will make good use of this product.

Right I think I might actually be able to use this fare later this year to go:

SYD-PVG-HKG-SYD

The first two sectors are only two class aircraft, so F would only be HKG-SYD. Better than nothing though I guess....

Edit: That is assuming you fly QF SYD-PVG

I believe QF is the only carrier he can use on the AAS fare for that leg - but yes no F on the first 2 legs.

There's CX F on the last leg. Better than nought indeed.

The F seat back to SYD really made a difference last week - I really slept well and was not tired at all on the Friday - I could have even gone into the office.

Hmm - question does a stopover have to be a minimum of 24 hours?

I am thinking of going SYD-HKG-NRT-SYD on this fare - basically using it to keep the cost of the trip down as I have to fly QF up to HKG (my boss is on a DONE4 and using on of his flights to get to Asia) and am thinking to keep cost down I can get a flight to NRT and either go straight home (purely a transit) of kip one night at NRT (in a hotel).

If necessary I could fly to NRT during the day - kip at airport Hotel, train to the CIty - do imperial palace and then train back to NRT and night flight home - but this would not be a preferred option.

Also - I am just speculating. I wanted to use these tickets to get up into China again but given that CX and QF have very limited flights into/out of PVG I am buying those as separate tickets. What I am wondering (and it wont be a decision maker) would be if - if I book a CircAsia and separate tickets to PVG if KA join oneworld sooner than November could I tweak the circasia to include some KA flights and dump the KA separate bookings?

Yes the technical definition of stopover is anything >24 hours.

It would seem that the two stopover rule is just for 17 type rules - so my syd-hkg-nrt-syd at 11,500 miles should be fine?

Looks like its time to book - and I can even use my $300 vouchers from QF

Hmm - just called to book a circle asia for tgtwwm and we are only going to HKG and back. So I booked him into the traditional syd-hkg[stop]-nrt-syd routing and was told that for the CircleAsia there is a min 2 stop requirement so they just booked it so that he now stops at NRT overnight.

Does anyone have a copy of the fare rules that show the min 2 stop requirement for both 13 and 17 fares?

Is it worth emailing oneworld for more info?

Book it with a stopover in NRT. Then after it has been ticketed see if you can change the date of the NRT-SYD flight to be a day earlier. Might work. I had a similar "problem" when QF would not ticket QF9 SYD-SIN-MEL-SYD all as connecting flights on separate coupons (to maximise QF SC earning of course ). So I had them book it with a night stop in SIN and another night stop in MEL. Then after I started the DONE4, I called and changed the date of the SIN-MEL, MEL-SYD and SYD-BNE. I had no problems.

However, my issue was not to do with fare rules, but with a limitation in QF's willingness to sell a set of flights. So he might be stuck with a night in NRT.
