Regarding the 280,000 points, I have since added new flights, changed existing flights and deleted flights to my award booking and the 280,000 points has not changed, only the 5,000 point cost each time. So, can confirm that the 280,000 points still applies for itineraries originally ticketed pre-18th September. It has not increased to 318,000 points.

Just curious - we queried with qantas and they claim that in order to choose actual seats for your oneworld itinerary you need to contact/go through each individual airline? Is this true?

When we login to our itinerary via qantas we aren't able to choose seats (last we tried when we booked June'ish for Feb-March 2020 Scandinavia).

I also asked here but can't find the response, but someone mentioned there was a better forum to investigate insurance? We are just lost with all the myriad of options /providers. Normally we would get a Travel Insurance DIrect or some other common travel insurance, but with Scandinavia we would like to be covered for leisurely getting on dog sledding or a snow mobile (if we end up finding/doing it) as well as the usual on piste snowboarding and stuff. Was hoping it would be easy to find something that covers all this provided we are doing these activities as a normal 'tourist' would i.e. common sense, not drunk etc.

Could someone point me in the right direction on where to better ask this question? or better yet did anyone have any insurance provider that covvers all these items 'just in case' without costing an arm and leg?

We are also booked via HK to get to TOkyo on our first leg of the trip... so I am hoping whatever travel insurance we buy now after having booked flights will still cover us if any unrest occurs to block off the airport? Otherwise does anyone know what Qantas usually does, given this is points how does one get compensated if at all for any delays or cancelled flights? Is that something that travel insurance doesn't cover becuase you 'booked' yor flights using points than a dollar value?

I have found Royal Jordanian good for seat selection on other airlines as long as you have an RJ flight in the itinerary.

Unsure. Not sure of how the deleted JL flight taxes compare to the addition of a QF flight that replaced it. It was all lumped in. Just that there was a small net decrease.

Re: choosing seats. I am doing OWA itinerary including QR and booked my seats for all airlines on QR website (using my booking ref). Sorry, can't help re: travel ins, hopefully someone else can.

Correct. As others have said, depending on what airlines are in the itinerary, you may be able to book seats on multiple airlines through other sites (e.g. Qatar, Jordanian)

Have you got a "high end" credit card with travel insurance. Read the T&Cs carefully to see if they will cover you for your trip and anticipated activities. There are other threads on AFF that discuss Travel insurance in detail.

Have you got a "high end" credit card with travel insurance. Read the T&Cs carefully to see if they will cover you for your trip and anticipated activities. There are other threads on AFF that discuss Travel insurance in detail.

I strongly agree.
My experience with credit card provided travel insurance is that pre existing medical condition cover is variable or non existent - best to check particularly if you are entering the "senior" years

Now having done some further reading today (thanks for the link to the rules There'sOnlyOneJimmy), it appears that if there are still reward flights available, you can pay a reinstatement fee (5000 pts per person) and get those remaining flights back.

Has anyone ever done this? Tried and failed?? Would love to hear some feedback..

Can anyone comment on this? I found that part in the conditions too.

Also am confused from the recent replies here about making changes AFTER you have departed your first leg already. If I have completed my first flight but wish to change the date of my second flight/leg,am I able to do that? Or the flight route altogether?
I'm aware you can change whatever before your first flight departs, but unclear about changes whilst you are in the middle of the trip/itinerary. If you could point me to the relevant section of the terms and conditions that would be great too as I can't find it.

From the T & Cs (emphasis added):

14.7.5 Subject to this clause 14.7, the following changes are permitted to a Classic Flight Reward flight before departure of that flight, provided the entire booking contains only Flight Segments that are within Australia, and will incur a Change Fee (see the Fee Schedule) per passenger:

(a) change to flight number;
(b) change to date of travel;
(c) change to class of travel; and
(d) change to a direct or indirect Segment routing without a Stopover (provided the origin and destination cities remain unchanged) or airline.

14.7.6 Subject to this clause 14.7, the following changes are permitted to a Classic Flight Reward flight before departure of that flight, provided the booking contains one or more Flight Segments that are not within Australia, and the Flight Segment(s) being changed do not include a partner airline that requires a ticket to be reissued for the change. Any such change will incur a Change Fee (see the Fee Schedule) per passenger:

(a) change to flight number; and
(b) change to date of travel.

So, in answer to your question (and assuming you have an international segment which, of course, is what this thread is all about), my understanding is:

• After you have departed on your first leg, you can change the date and or time of a flight (changing the time will usually result in a change of flight number);
• After you have departed on your first leg, you cannot change the flight route, or class of travel, or carrier...

I was able to pick seats on Qantas flights through Qantas but received an error message when I tried to pick seats for the Qatar airways legs through Qatar. I was later able to pick seats on the Qatar flights through Malaysian Airlines and they all now reflect on my booking on the Qantas site.

Unfortunately I couldn't pick seats on my two British Airways flights for free - on one of the flights they wanted $172 AUD per person / per seat selection - think I'll just wait for check in.

So how do I go about booking part of a trip? This will be my first OneWorld RTW Business Class booking.

I'm looking to book a trans-pacific outbound leg while the flights are there, and then follow-on with the remaining and return legs once the rest are available. Even though only released in the last week, there is minimal QF across the Pacific on the dates I'm looking at, and almost no CX out of Oz on the relevant day, so I feel I may need to move fast. Or do extra Business Class seats get released on a drip feed or something?

I assume that I can book the forward leg easy enough? Do I use the multi-tool? And when I go to book the remaining legs, obviously I pay the change fee of 6K pts per person, but can I book the rest of the fares online still, or will I have to call the QFF Service Centre?

The remaining legs will hopefully be AA domestic and QF, CX or JL returns across the Pacific.

If you want to book part of a One World Classic Award you can do so via the QF website if the flights you want are available.

For a single sector, book as normal. For more than one sector, use the multi-city function.

Well it is the Classic Award that I'm chasing, and I get that I am best to book them on the QF website if possible. That's our intention.

I can probably book as a single sector to start, but my biggest question relates to how I book the remainder of the booking.

Must I do it through the QFF Contact Centre, or am I a chance to be able to complete it online (I know I'll pay the 6K change fee either way)?

WIll I get hit with an extra charge if I have to use the Contact Centre?

There's heaps of information provided in this thread about the OneWorld Award bookings.

There are options as to how to book. You could start by trying to book a few of the flights on-line, first up. You may even get the whole itinerary done, but the site is very buggy as you may have already read. If on-line isn't any good for you, then it's the Call Centre.

The add/change fee is 5,000 points per passenger each time that you phone the Call Centre and make changes (and for the initial booking if done by phone). Suggest that you research your flights for availability before phoning. Changes can't be done on-line.

Generally, given the timeframes these trips are taken you won't be able to book all 5 stops on line at your first attempt if you're going for the nice seats! So yes, book the first leg or two on line and after that you will have to ring up to amend the booking (at 5k points per person change fee).

The question is do "Code Share" flights with say a QF flight number on a non one world carrier count as a leg on a One World carrier for the purpose of booking a One world award flight?
eg If I fly from Sydney to Papeete on Air Tahiti Nui and then on to LAX on Air Tahiti Nui on flights that have a QF code share flight number do these qualify as legs for a one world award flight even though they are not on one world metal?

Would be all right if I could actually make an online booking, but I gather this is a problem that everyone experiences? Continually fails once all the details are entered

The flights need to be on any of the thirteen OneWorld member airlines. No others.
