One way to get an op-up!

Just got a message from my girlfriend, who just came off LHR-BKK on (I think) BA.

Her and a friend were in the middle/aisle, and a very drunk guy (mid 20's) was in the window seat. After takeoff he started bashing the window, shouting and putting his arm around my girlfriend's friend.

BA upgraded them to Premium Economy (bulkhead), and the drunk guy was arrested on arrival in BKK. One way to get an op-up I suppose!

So board the plane.Seek out the drunkest guy there.Offer to switch with whoever is seated next to them(hoping they havent read this thread).Then hope he wants to put his arm around you?

And on that note, perhaps a party of three travelling could nominate one to be the DD (designated drunk) so the other two can get the op-up and the DD gets two adjacent empty seats!

Not sure the stay in Thailand will be "free". I expect there may be a significant bill waiting at the "reception desk" upon check-out.

One has to ask the question how a drunk guy was allowed to board the aircraft? I have had one too many on more than one occasion but I feel I can handle my alcohol in public a lot better than most people.

Anyway I would prefer to take my chances with the op-up lottery than sitting next to some aggresive drunk guy even if it meant an op-up. Who knows what these people are capable of doing? It could be you he is using as a punching bag rather than the window....

In similar vein. On a BA flight to LHR from SYD quite a few years ago I was sat next to a guy who appeared quite normal. We exchanged greetings, he read a book and dinner arrived. Not only did he eat his dinner but he started to eat the plate - maybe some will remember those thick semi clear blue plastic plates. Not a pretty sight, and a little unnerving with blood oozing out of his mouth.:shock: I got moved to CW or whatever it was called then. Turned out he had taken too many sleepers! :-|

Had to help my mate through immigration / customs one day after had a big night out ! (ie no need for hotel that night before morning flight)
Both just slept the minute we were on the plane.

As far as i am concerned if you get agressive when drunk then you should not be drinking. I know a person who 2 was like that, they simply wont drink now. Granted the 2 people i know have good self control not to drink but i think its the only way and so do they.

Nothing I dislike more than an angry drunk. Stupid drunk? Happy drunk? Friendly drunk? All good. I just don't get people who get a few drinks into them, and feel the need to start a fight.

I've boarded planes drunk before too. Not stumbling-over-my-feet drunk, but still what I'd consider the drunk side of tipsy. Like others in this thread, I'm usually asleep before takeoff.

Turned out he had taken too many sleepers! :-|

That probably had something to do with this situation too. From my gf:
"He had no idea where he was, tried banging against the windows, was putting his arms around her, and stunk like alcohol. He told her he's taken some sleeping pills. We got the airhostess and he started getting aggressive against her."
