So, if you are going to a glorious destination for a wonderful holiday and you have the availabilty/option to fly one leg in prem/J/F

Which would it be, and why?

The TO leg or the RETURN leg ?

For me its the TO leg because i feel better on my holiday if ive already flown in luxury as opposed to cattle class where i may be tired/sore/annoyed

Going to the US, much better to do it on the return. The outbound journey you are going against your circadian rhythm, so you generally won’t sleep as well or as long (you are shorterning your day).

The return journey is much easier to sleep on (especially if you’ve had a good trip!) and going with your circadian rhythm (extending your day).

It’s a bit of a moot point though, as it’s usually difficult to book a mixed class fare, and if going for an upgrade, better to put your hat in the ring for two bites at the cherry.

That being said, it’s really nice departing Australia in business, adds to the excitement of the trip.

The outward journey especially if on holiday as it makes a great start to the trip. On the return leg I’m usually depressed anyway that the holiday is over lol.

I'm usually just excited to be going to the airport for the TO leg. I prefer to be lying flat on the way home. Gives you something to look forward to at the end of the trip and eases your way back into the routine or gives you a chance to start clearing the inbox.

I've got some decent fares with SQ by combining PE on a daytime outbound leg and business on the return overnight, which can be easily done through their website.
