On board Greeting

Bit of mythology here. Can't say there is anything extraordinary about how CX treat OWE's even their own Diamonds. It's all pretty routine and formulaic. Service in their F lounges is a little better probably but again it's nothing special.

CX forums on FT state otherwise:

Diamonds get liberal op ups, better confirmation of long haul upgrades, Buggy escorts at HKG, award availability based on free seats not fare buckets and access to any lounge at any time regardless of carrier (inclined outside 1W).

OWEs benefit from op ups as do SGs as widely reported, as well as personal greetings.

I booked the flights as a QF WP, and as I am doing a AA challenge I changed my FF account at check in to AA acct, which is a ruby status,
but interestingly the CSM had no idea who I was on the plane, now as a ruby I would not expect a greeting but as an actual WP would it not be prudent for Qantas to know why I'm not using QF acct , just to make sure I'm still happy, or something did not happen
Just a thought that QF might be missing opportunities due to a software shortcoming
I spoke with the CSM and her ipad gets updates 5 mins before boarding. Surely they can be made aware

Isn't there some marketing law that says it is far cheaper to keep a customer than find a new one, why would they miss this???

Qantas has ~60,000 WP frequent flyers in their pool base so losing one, such as yourself, temporarily to go do a status challenge, they wouldn't ever care, bother or mind. Losing you indefinitely to another program, again they probably would care, bother or mind. There will always be new entrants to the WP level, similarly there will always be some who drop down. Alarm bells won't ring at Qantas if you left, but if the pool base contracted by a target %, let's say 3%, then the alarm bells might start ringing (and a double SC offer might pop up for example).

Not to mention the numbers reporting being comped WP after falling short.

Buggy escorts at HKG, if that was the case HKG airport terminal would look like a demolition derby there are that many CX Diamonds there! Never been offered that. Access to any business class lounge regardless of carrier and only at HKG, but yes you do get the "greeting" that seems so important to everyone. I don't know about the liberal upgrades one sometimes hears about, perhaps this is so.

Much of this has been tightened up now, award and upgrade availability is a big one that has given a lot of folk heartburn as they see AA redeemers snapping up the CX F award inventory.

OWE opups were always behind MPC DMs and GOs and with the new customer value criteria will become more and more scarce (and not status dependent), greetings to OWE also disappeared a couple of years ago I found.

I had a WP greeting at my seat (CSM crouched down) today on QF694 ADL-MEL (in J). First time ever domestically I think, kind of took me by surprise.

A couple of data points...got a personal on-board greeting on CX and KA (flights taken in the last week) as a QF WP:

CX KUL-HKG (J)
KA HKG-KHH (Y - actually, my dad got the greeting as we had swapped seats onboard - and as he was possibly the only Westerner on board, my mum thought they were discriminating against Chinese when he was given a bottle of water!)
KA KHH-HKG (Y - again my dad got the greeting as he insisted on swapping seats with me! Got a beer too.)

Personal greeting at seat, SYD-MEL, in Y, a few days ago, along with another pax across the aisle. Asked if there was anything that I needed, and he asked if I would like to move to the empty D E F row in front, which I happily accepted.

I'm not quite clear on the point of this whole thread

I have become so used to getting my inane greeting in CX from the lady in black, then the lady in gold, that my day is in ruins if I miss out. I am considering hoisting a large electric sign next time I sit down. It will have 'DYKWIA' flashing on and off just to remind them.

Cheers skip.

Personal greeting on Emirates Dubai-Paris 2 weeks ago. Also enquired what sort of 'doctor' I was and would it be ok to be called to help with any medical problems! I was too slow to suggest I'd be happy to assist and was there any 'on call' allowance involved ( champagne maybe)

Just trying to be observant while wandering

Some CSMs on domestic flights have been doing the on board greeting, some with bottle of water and some have been coming around and shaking hands.
