Fire fears sparks emergency landing of Qantas flight

In a terrifying ordeal, a Qantas flight due for Auckland has been forced to make an emergency landing over fears a fire broke out on-board the aircraft.

The QF141 flight, travelling from Sydney to Auckland, made an emergency landing at Auckland Airport shortly after noon local time.

A Qantas spokeswoman said the pilots received a warning light, indicating there was a fire in the front cargo hold, sparking the emergency landing.

“The aircraft landed safely at Auckland Airport and passengers have disembarked.

“Preliminary investigations report that there was no fire in the front cargo hold. Our engineers will inspect the aircraft to determine the cause.”

With no evidence of a fire on board, Qantas engineers are now investigating whether an electrical issue caused the false alarm.
