Oman Air booking issues

Well, that's good business. Obviously Aussies are prepared to pay these "taxes". But not me.

I think you’ll find most if not all the participants in this thread are in the same boat. Unfortunately, I’ve run out of points to make it to Asia with an awards flight this time (three round trips booked in the 10 months between now and the Oman flight - 2xSQ, 1x QF) so sucked up the cost from Oz this time.

Both business lounges in MCT are new, shiny and wonderful. I tried both on the same day and the food options were very similar, however when push comes to shove, the Oman Air lounge just has the extra sparkle and is less crowded. Neither lounge can be considered slumming it compared to QF J lounges in Australia.
My recent experience regarding boarding on Oman Air is that they do enforce something resembling sense. 4 boarding slots from memory? If you are J then you just need to squeeze around the people waiting for their slot to be called.

Having booked 9 months out, I'm getting a lot of aircraft swaps. Not necessarily a problem, this just for info.

BKK-MCT-LHR then CDG-MCT-BKK

A couple of B787-9 legs have been swapped for a B787-8s and on one leg, I lost my studio. Bugger. Was able to cancel the entire itinerary and get a refund, and book a new one with some different timings that I chose, cheaper as no studio. Net refund.. My TA absorbed the cost of the new ticket while waiting for the refund from WY which only took about a week to arrive
