So we now started out on the Gable Shores drive. The Green Gables park is in the middle so we drove east first then backtracked.Rustico Bay was nice with harbours at North Rustico and Rustico.

A path between them and a statue of an Arcadian fisherman in the water.

A couple of versions of the Arcadian flag.

There are many small fishing ports on the coast. This one is New London. And on the other side of the bridge a mussel farm.

The next is French River.

We had lunch at the Malpeque Oyster barn.A small very rustic place and we were lucky to get the second last table. It is upstairs from their fresh seafood business which had already closed for the season.
1567556835074.jpeg.1567556859101.jpeg.

We shared some fried oysters.
1567556950596.jpeg.
Mrsdrron had mussels and I the scallops.
1567557033069.jpeg.1567557054204.jpeg.
Every thing was very good and another recommendation.
A little further on at Cabot provincial park a supervised beach-though today being Labor Day was the last of the season. It was cold and the wind blowing but lots were out in beach gear though no one was in the water.

1567557406288.jpeg.
Though they call it a white sand beach.

It does seem very early to close for a season. Do you know when they consider the season open?

It seems to vary. Our favourite lobster restaurant opened on April 15th this year, lobster pounds seem to reopen in May but I looked at the Provincial park we visited the day after Labor day and it was closed and only opens mid June.

1567621115879.jpeg.1567621136404.jpeg.
And over the bay Fort Amherst.
1567621179764.jpeg.1567621202850.jpeg.
Again this is described as a beach.
1567621246508.jpeg.
This was the day after Labor Day so the gate was locked.
1567621306261.jpeg.
Won't be unlocked until mid June.

Some random shots along the way.
1567621450221.jpeg.1567621484733.jpeg.
Then Woods Island with the Nova Scotia ferry and lighthouse.
1567621537567.jpeg.1567621558883.jpeg.
One fact re the ferry. We could book a one way fare from PEI but from Nova Scotia you have to book a return fare. All vehicles leaving PEI must pay a toll so this means you don't get out of it.
Further along Murray Harbour.
1567621754719.jpeg.1567621786817.jpeg.

1567621815386.jpeg.

Little Macquarie harbour.

Next was Gloucester.
1567622032124.jpeg.1567622054905.jpeg.

The old train line ran along the harbour here.It is now a trail for bikes and walkers.
1567622131215.jpeg.

Then there was an absolutely boring section of the drive. No sight of the water and many changes of direction on bad roads. So when it hit H'way 4 we continued on that and then Highway 3 to Souris which is on the drive. It is the terminal for the ferry to the Iles De Madelaine.

1567622387291.jpeg.1567622402702.jpeg.

From where I took these photos was a lobster Pound who was selling out his lobsters so he could close for the season.$8 a pound live,$9 cooked. Now if we had been self catering I know what we would have had for dinner.

The weather was getting worse so we headed back up Highway 3 to St.Peters.
1567622615514.jpeg.1567622636063.jpeg.
The blue roofed building is the information centre and I was standing at their shopping centre-half a dozen small building with a cafe and ice cream parlour plus gift shops. One shop had recycled art and I thought these lamps were interesting.
1567622780309.jpeg.1567622800955.jpeg.

And the St.Peters Bay.
1567622845742.jpeg.1567622864670.jpeg.

Even though it was just after 2 we headed for our place for the next 2 nights-the Inn at St.Peters.A little rustic but comfortable.
1567622993288.jpeg.1567623014345.jpeg.

1567623073223.jpeg.
The view from our porch.
1567623104786.jpeg.

1567623128541.jpeg.

The main house with the restaurant and some of the rooms.
1567623190371.jpeg.1567623218871.jpeg.

As this was our scheduled rest stop it was time for pre dinner drinks.Wine for mrsdrron and a G&T for me.
1567623290379.jpeg.1567623306210.jpeg.

So to dinner.Seeing we were staying for 2 nights we each got a bottle of wine to have over the 2 nights.A Kim Crawford SB for mrsdrron and a Malbec for me.
1567623497905.jpeg.1567623519203.jpeg.

For starters mrsdrron had the scallops and I the seafood chowder.both very nice.
1567623586027.jpeg.1567623606570.jpeg.
For mains mrsdrron had the lobster I the halibut.
1567623655488.jpeg.1567623680452.jpeg.
Again both very nice.Mrsdrron felt the lobster was absolutely perfectly cooked.
So feeling full and content we strolled back to the room feeling content.

1567623817450.jpeg.1567623834947.jpeg.

The clouds had disappeared over dinner and the light was great.Would I finally see a good sunset on this trip?
