OLCI - has anyone ever got Row 4 on 737?

It's now 4/4 on 73H's and, yep, I was already allocated 4C!

(Couldn't realistically move anyway; the seat map was showing all seats down to row 10 as allocated/blocked.)
Now 4/5 as I was allocated 5D on a full aircraft. Getting seq #1 my only move option was to middle seating down the back.

I have managed to get another 4D pre-allocated, so I am happy. The flight was almost full too. :D

The unfortunate thing was that the child in the same set of seat kept hopping up and down the seat throughout the flight and banging on the arm rest, so it was rather distracting (the parent said nothing to him). I wished I were somewhere else :D

My 4A experience was blighted a bit by someone taking 4B at the last minute!

Yep, I had row 4 for my wife and I coming back from Cairns recently, which was OLCI. J class wasn't full, so while I think it is a better seat, it is a little frustrating looking at the bigger seats and "decent" service and food and drink!!

I had 4C pre-allocated on a recent SYD-HBA flight. Someone sitting in 4A and 4B blocked. Wonderful!

Hmmm... I've just checked in for QF454 (dep MEL tomorrow at 17:30, so T-23:42) and I was auto-allocated 36A on a 767. I was able to move myself to 27B but nothing else was available other than middle seats in the middle row. And I'm seq nbr 7.

Peter, there are QF people constantly monitoring this website and know by now that you are a vocal supporter of DJ! ;)

As far as that goes John, Qantas could easily ascertain "Serfty" from information I have posted here.

Y/Y, What sort of 763 was it ? A "ZX" (sans row 25) or one of the others?

JohnK - but I reckon that I spent just as much on J & F flights with QF last year, so they're not missing out on my business!

Ross - I don't know. How does one find out, because the seat map online presents half a dozen different 763 variants but doesn't specify which one.

For WHY, it's simple... as VH-ZX* has a mini cabin for Rows 23 & 24 (row 25 does not exist). (alsoe has L1 & L2 Doors before the wing)

It would not be difficult for Qantas to cross check AFF user names and actual QF memberships for anyone who has posted their flying patterns, with flight number and dates, in the thread Your travel in 2006...monthly updates.

Forgot to mention that I have been allocated 4C again on QF574 PER-SYD in about 1 hour.

I could not check in online as it is part of an international connection.

For some of us they wouldn't even need that info. There is enough unique info posted by some (including me) that an airline lurker could easily deduce our identity. Lets face many of our travel patterns and experiences are not that typical (I'd include JohnK in this too).

Unique is the keyword here. I have nothing to hide.

BTW here for any QF lurkers here that do not know my QF user name and membership just signon to AFF and send me a PM as I would be glad to provide you with this information.

In order to attain some special treatment, so they can be like "OMG! It's JohnK from AFF!" :p

Don't laugh but I've had similar happen with SQ.

Ross - I was on VH-ZXE, so it had the mini cabin as you described. I was in the second row of the first large Y cabin behind this, where there is no window.

I have to say that the cabin of VH-ZXE is a complete disgrace.
  • It looks like it is 30 years old
  • It is grubby and worn
  • The crew area/galley near where I was sitting is very poorly lit which adds to the dim, dour ambience of the cabin.
  • The bulkhead of the galley wobbles around like it is going to fall over, and there are stray pieces of foam at the top which appear to have been shoved in to minimise the rattling.
  • The tiny IFE screens were useless for where I was sitting.

For a 5:30pm cityflyer flight (with the food service starting around 6pm) I was expecting dinner - all they served was 4 crackers with cheese and cold drinks. There wasn't even coffee or tea. Someone remind me again about the frills???

After the crew had cleaned up after the "snack", I noticed 4 of them in the galley chatting away and then a 5th person joined them - it was a JQ crew-member. After their long chat it appeared that he returned to his seat in the J cabin! So do JQ crews dead-head in QF business class seats now as well?

All the 763's look dates i feel, more so than the 744's
Good planes but they really do need an interior re-do !

VH-ZXE was the plane that had the fire in the aux power unit in Darwin a couple of months ago, still it flew to sydney/brisbane same day.

Qantas planned to send those coughpy old ZX! beasties back to BA last year, but the extended A380 delays means they had to continue to use them.

As far a dinner goes between MEL & SYD it's 6PM-8PM departures only; back to Cheese and bikkies or similar after that.

At least any Beer/Wine was complimentary. :p

OLCI yesterday, and only managed to get 4A and 5A for my 2 flights on a 737 today!
