Well it felt like i was cheating, travelling with the other woman so to speak. Since 1986 I have been a Loyal and faithful traveller with Qantas. I have stuck with them, complained only 3 times, given many many compliments and generally have stood up for the airline and its staff. Only once did I travel on DeathStar, never on Virgin, but the opportunity to travel to NZ return for 1062.00 inc Taxes for a family of 4 was just too good.

So reciently I took the family to NZ on Emirates. OK, so it was down the back, but damm was it a striking difference. The food was great, The entertainment system worked hahaha, the hosties were smiling and joking and it was just an absoutly fantastic trip. I do a lot of BNE-PER and BNE-HKG-DUB flights, but I was actually looking forward to getting back on the flight to return home. I actually caught myself smiling as i got on the plane.
Does anyone else have a simular report or was this just a 2 off.

Maybe Qantas fans for good reason :)
Generally i can say i have been much better treated by QF (and BA, CX, JL) than say SQ, MH, DJ. (And yes i do fly them still, SQ has had 7 out of my last 10 sectors)

Everybody will have a different expereince and some good days and bad days. At the end of the day you should fly with who you want to fly with.

I recently did a EK AKL-SYD in F recently and it was an excellent journey. The EK F seats are v nice on the 777 and when I read the menu and saw how many courses it was, my 1st thought was that I must have been on the SYD-BKK pages and far better than a QF longhaul F offering

Added to that the chauffeur drive service from office to AKL before departure and from SYD to home on arrival, it was superb

Fortunately for QF/NZ , too many people are too fixated on mileage earning and wouldn't think of using EK

So true. Their F service (even to NZ) is very good. Puts Qantas Business to shame, for roughly the same price. The transfers are also a good bonus.

When flying in economy though, having lounge access before the flights, status to help when something goes wrong, and ability to pre-select good seats does tip things in Qantas' favour for me.

I noticed on the JetConnect filght Mel-Akl the staff were really very pleasant. It was a light load, the stewardess came and sat next to me and asked me about my planned NZ trip.

Each seat had a NZ holiday book with stuff to do and places to stay and she helped me find some stuff - the food was as good as Qantaslink too.

Was a nice change from the (quite often) surly QF staff.

Still I think I prefer surly QF to plastic DJ :D
