NYC to LAX cancellation

My niece is flying back to Sydney tomorrow from NYC on AA and Qantas, her flight from NYC tp LAX (AA) was cancelled and they've put her on a Delta flight, they told her that was the only one they could get her on. I said to her she won't get SC or points, plus it's likely she'll have to collect her bags in LAX. Doesn't sound right to me, anyone had any experience with this?

She'll be able to do ORC (original routing credit) request for the points and status credits... just keep the boarding passes. Can't help with baggage questions sorry.

It does seem a bit odd though, as AA is showing fair wide availability on flights on NYC-LAX routing. By "tomorrow" do you mean Fri 6-Dec, or do you mean tomorrow in USA, which is already today here Thu 5-Dec?

yeh, I sent her a similiar screenshot. her flights are Friday US so 6 Feb there.
