I thought I read somewhere there is a web site which tells you how full a plane is. Can anyone shed some light on this?

thanks

An expertflyer pro account can tell you how many seats in each fare bucket are available.

Just to expand the thread a bit - what system(s) does Expertflyer plug into to yield its seat availability information? How often is that source(s) information updated? And are there any circumstances where the reported seat availability would not be accurate?

Real time.

And many circumstances, such as POS restrictions. E/F give US (by default) as well as UK POS.

Thanks for that pertinent info. Helped me to sort out if TA was being accurate with seating availability when trying to get me to buy sooner rather than later for June trip. JoyV

And was the TA accurate?

but the travel agent may have been alerting you to cheap fares available... which might have been limited in number even if the flight is wide open.

yes, there seemed to be enough seats in all classes but will check ticket class by phone today. I
am looking at 4 cheapest J tickets in June Of course it is all a bit of a gamble as some one could go and snaffle them ten minutes before we arrive to buy them! Last week I was advised to buy them asap but have to wait until I can get everyone and paperwork assembled. Has reduced my stress level. JoyV

I may be wrong but some TA's only have access to seats sold by their wholesaler.

The number of seats available by their source may vary to what the available fare buckets show.

Thanks for that reality check. it takes a while to get your head around all the possibilities so your comments are helpful. I actually rang the airline itself.

Strangely the Melbourne office often does not always seem to have access to the same number of special seats as does the head office in Brunei.

I found this out when BI had really cheap ($530 approx) return fares MEL to BKK and had to book with Brunei office as Melbourne office did not have them on their booking system.

Now when i check fares i always use Royal Brunei global site as my reference point. JoyV

BI were always a good option for those wanting cheap J fares ex-AU.

Pity they only service MEL now.
