Transfer if your game or have an immediate redemption in mind. Note that Virgin Australia currently doesn’t offer international redemptions, even on their own short-haul network. So any transfer may result in you only being able to use points for domestic travel only.

Thanks to Lawbee on Ozbargin: he/she states they found this offer from google search, the actual velocity link points to a 404 page however google cached the offer page.(webcache.googleusercontent.com) I'm not 100% sure whether this will happen

Velocity members will receive 20% bonus Velocity Points when they transfer eligible points from Participating Partners to Velocity into Velocity Points between 12:01am (AEST) 1 November and 11:59pm (AEST) 30 November 2021 (“Promotion Period”).

“Participating Partners” are: Australian American Express Card Members, including David Jones American Express Card Members enrolled in the Membership Rewards program (this offer excludes American Express New Zealand Card Members), ANZ Rewards, ANZ Business Rewards, Westpac Altitude Rewards, NAB Rewards, Citi Rewards, CommBank Awards, HSBC Rewards (Platinum and Premier credit card holders only), Diners Club Rewards, Card Services Rewards, Suncorp Credit Card Rewards, BOQ Q Rewards, St.George Amplify Rewards, BankSA Amplify Rewards and Bank of Melbourne Amplify Rewards.

Cmon, we all know Virgin will offer International (albeit very limited) within weeks as soon as the Feds get their cough together and allow international tourists. So likely to be before end November, but the SQ transfer bonus maybe a better bet.

They are already selling seats on their short-haul network and haven’t bothered to open up reward seats. What are they waiting for? The feds have already provided a roadmap. If Virgin had any intention of launching international redemption seats, surely they would have done it already. Wouldn’t it have been in their interest to announce international reward seat redemptions in the peak of all the fanfare about the international border reopening. They are just letting Qantas promote all the additional reward seats and international routes while Virgin/Velocity just sit and wait. What are they waiting for seriously?

Don’t want to Re litigate this when I got into trouble expressing this view last time but when NSW said we are going to open up and the Feds essentially said we will decide who comes into the country I suspect the airlines didn’t feel overly confident to start putting on flights. Opening the borders isn’t really opening the borders if tourists can’t enter. QF still have some money but Virgin will be prioritising paid over reward flights for a while I suspect. There won’t be no reward flights but until they can get volume on paid flights it ain’t going to be a priority!

Yes I agree it'd be nice to have redemption seats however in the short term I don't see it as a huge loss. Basically all of VA's partners to/from Australia have no redemption seats anyway (except EY).

Delta - No redemption seats released to/from Australia for partners are showing.
Virgin Atlantic - A handful of HKG-LHR seats exist but split tickets are very hard to connect to this due to HK restrictions (and obviously no longer a VA SYD/MEL-HKG flight).
Singapore Airlines - Is currently not releasing any redemption seats to any partners.
Etihad - A surprisingly good amount of Y/J seats in/out of Australia (even this year)
Hong Kong Airlines - Stopped flying to Australia.
Air Canada - No redemption seats to/from Australia have been released.
Capital Airlines - China is still closed.
Hainan Airlines - China is still closed.
Hawaiian Airlines - Has no availability this calendar year and then a small amount later next year.
South African Airways - Stopped flying to Australia.
Tanjin Airlines - China is still closed.

Just had a Virgin email promoting ''something exciting'' re credit card points transfers coming up. Probably it is this 20% one.

Why anyone would do it to Virgin sure beats me - there was a frantic stampede to BURN Virgin points last year and many have been bemoaning not doing that all year.

SQ also sent me one earlier today offering 15% bonus on oz cards balances to SQ.

Now THAT I might look at ... have 2 million Amex points right now, so pretty tempting. :D

SQ are going nowhere, but have not looked at their redemption rates. They CLAIM to be releasing a lot of FF inventory into the system.

For Kris Flyer members anyway -- they have been near non-existent for Star Alliance partner points premium class awards for a decade.

No idea what a SYD-Europe costs in SQ points in F or Biz, but 2.3 million points will be several trips I feel sure if seats are gettable.

No surprises that Velocity is planning a transfer bonus during November. They have done every May and November for as long as I can remember (except May 2020 when Velocity had paused all redemptions).

I personally will not be transferring any points to Velocity while international/partner redemptions remain unavailable. It's a joke that these still haven't returned and that Velocity is blaming government restrictions for it. The same government restrictions are not preventing members of any other frequent flyer program in the world from redeeming points on partner airlines.

That said, I would not be surprised if there was an announcement about international redemptions when this promo starts on 1 November.

Pretty bloody ridiculous that they aren’t offering redemptions for international partners. I’ve got over a million in flybuys which I’ll probably just end up using through flybuys travel and I can’t see transfers to KrisFlyer coming back. While everyone else is getting on with it virgin are lagging behind and I’ve unfortunately lost confidence. Bit off topic but can I still use platinum status to get into Etihad first lounge and can a younger person travelling with me also enter as red?

My understanding is that you can still get first class lounge access and 1 guest when flying Etihad as a Velocity platinum member.

There's also the question whether Singapore Airlines will even remain as a Virgin Australia (Velocity) partner past November. That may (or may not) play into the decision for Virgin/Bain to delay the announcement of their re-launch of their international redemption program.

Either way, the Velocity-Kris transfers are odds-on to be gone.

Well right now, with SQ still not releasing any awards to partners and many lounges closed the benefits of the partnership are quite minimal.

Currently it's just the ability to earn points/status credits, the standard priority check in/boarding/baggage, some extra baggage and lounge access in SIN and LHR only.

Haven't seen another thread talking on this but Virgin are doing the 20% transfer bonus between 1 Nov and 30 Nov. Velocity 20% transfer bonus

Several partners have a booster offer bringing it up to 30%. I have a small stash of ANZ rewards and ANZ have a 10% booster bringing the bonus to 30%. I note AMEX have a 5% booster. I have a sizeable amount of CBA rewards points courtesy of the Ultimate card sign on bonus, although CBA don't seem to have a boosters so I'll have to be satisfied with 20%.

Also, a shame that Flybuys doesn't appear to enjoy the same bonus. I'm waiting for a good time to transfer.

The systems are so interlinked now that by the time I had completed my Amex transfer and logged into Velocity the points were already there…

Gone are the days of old….

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

While there's no mention of the Velocity-Krisflyer transfer, last weeks email from the VFF CEO, a couple of days after your post, ought to provide you with a little more confidence in relation to KF (and certainly other airline) redemptions:

"From 11:59pm AEDT next Monday 1 November 2021, you’ll be able to make Reward Seat bookings using your Velocity Points for flights on Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, Etihad Airways, Hawaiian Airlines and South African Airways.

Singapore Airlines will be next to offer Reward Seats as they expand their network and services to and from Australia. We will update you as their Reward Seats become available."

I have ~750k of flybuys points that I could transfer assuming there was a decent bonus on transfers. I have a little more confidence converting flybuys to velocity now that I can book with partners. Unfortunately it’s still quite limited and although I’ve always loved flying with Etihad I find their fees quite expensive! I want to go back to Israel and can do now via the UAE so that’s always an option.
