The past 8 months I’ve experienced health issues. I recently had an emergency life saving operation resulting in a temporary stoma. I’ve had to cancel 3 return flights just prior to the operation. I’ve made 1 flight out of the 4. My anniversary date is 31/8. I’m currently platinum but won’t retain this status next year. I’ve had some issues with stoma and am very reluctant to fly. I’m life time silver. Does anyone know, without meeting flight eligibility, do I drop to silver. In the bigger scheme of life, being alive beats status.

Solution
You would only drop to Gold.

But if you met the requirements of the status extension offer (book one flight by 31/8Iin your case) for travel by 31/12, they'll keep you at platinum.

Did you book/take the flight (or book one of those cancelled flights) after November 23rd, 2020? if so your status will be retained under the status extension program.

Otherwise QF are probably not going to do you any favours.

It might be an idea to BOOK a flight before your anniversary date under the promotion and potentially cancel it post the anniversary. That should do the trick I think.

I would submit to be honest your health is far more important, specially during the pandemic. and if you're nervous to fly with your condition than holding the status is perhaps the least of your concerns?

My 3 credit vouchers meet criteria to retain current status. I was unsure what I would drop too or if I started at bronze again. I’m more curious than trying to maintain current status. For me, peace of mind is more important than retaining qff status. Told I would die without operation put life into perspective. Thank you for your replies, I will now travel after resection before Christmas.

It seems you will get another year of Platinum anyway and there is almost certain to be more status support. Concentrate on your health and wellbeing rather than travel at this point (unless travel is part of that :) I always feel better when I can travel!)
best wishes
