So about three months ago I purchased a trip to NYC on Qantas on Expedia.ie site (was going cheap)
At the time of booking there was a slight hiccup when my creditcard provider (28degrees) blocked the transaction. I rang them and sorted that!

The booking appeared on the Expedia site as confirmed and also appeared on the Qantas site.
But 3 months later I haven't had any money (apart from a booking fee ) taken off the credit card.
I rang expedia and they said the money has been taken and they sent to to Qantas and it should appear on my transaction list as 'Qantas Ireland' - My friend who booked a similar flight at the same time has been charged for it already. I gave Qantas a ring to confirm the flight was booked and confirmed and they said there was nothing out of the ordinary for the flight.

Although the flight isn't until November I'm worried cause I haven't had any money taken yet. If both parties said they have the money- where has it come from? Or should I expect them to take the payment at somepoint in the future. Three months seems like a long time not to charge someone for that?

Maybe it is one of those hccups in the System.

I booked a flight and the money had come out of my account and QF said it was unconfirmed.

When I went to book in at the lounge in BNE I was told my flight was still unconfirmed and then she just confirmed it and all done.

Nothing happened during the booking process that was unusual over the other booking I did that day as well.

I think you have a free flight.

I did once get a free nights accommodation out of QF as they money has never come out of my account.

When you say booked & confirmed is there actually an eticket issued or is it just a confirmed booking but unticketed?

When you go into 'Manage Your Bookings' can you actually change/cancel the booking or just select seats? If you can only select seats then it has not yet been ticketed.

Considering it was booked with an outside agent (expedia), this is not correct.

I couldn't select seats with my latest booking until it had been ticketed.

It was booked by an agent, so I can't change it online.

Check this site https://eitr.amadeusasia.com/index.aspx to see if you have been ticketed yet.
Going to that site It shows :
Ticket Number, Reference Number, last 4 digits of the credit card and correct expiry, and amount paid in Euros.
So I would say it has been ticketed, maybe payment blocked by CC company? I might give them a call for the skinny.

I dont want to be dodgy, but maybe a free flight ?

While not for a flight (it was a monthly direct debit), I went through this before, where the company said they were being paid, and I was never seeing any transactions. I am sure one day a debt collector will come knocking, but in the end I gave up trying to resolve it as everyone involved said the payments were being made.

I fully expect the charge to come through closer to the date. I have rung all the parties involved and tried to get a clear answer.

Have you got a copy of your eticket? If not then get one and print it out.

As far as I'm concerned if there is a valid eticket for the itinerary in the pnr there would be no issues as far as the airline is concerned.

It seems that your credit card not being charged is some internal accounting issue with Expedia so may be picked up when their reconciliations are done and/or at the EOFY which AFAIK is 31 Mar for EU.

Well thats a while off ;)
The fact that the support office at Expedia said that they have received payment payment has confused me, they stressed it was all fine.

Hmm I had something similar where my credit card number was entered incorrectly when booking directly through qantas. However it all went through just fine, booked seats, had e-tickets etc etc. I never really noticed that the money didn't come off my card so didn't ask anyone. But when I went to check in at SIN they couldn't give me a boarding pass, and I had to wait many hours for the service desk to open up and pay. All that time wasted which could've been in the lounge! :(

Not exactly the same situation, but just sharing my experience.

Qantas can take some time to charge for flights - especially flights so far out. With the ticket number though ... Things seem to be ok payment wise. Have you filled in all of the ESTA details required? QF used to (not sure about now), not finalise flights to the US until that was provided.

BTW, If nothing gets charged, I suggest checking in online/arriving at the airport super early to ensure any wrinkles can be sorted.

In April I redeemed one of last December's promotional 'vouchers' for a trip to the USA in November.

It still has not been ticketed, nor has my CC been charged the additional collect - this is despite several schedule changes, one which required a call to fix up a 20 minute DFW connection. (The agent mentioned it had not been ticketed and would "re-queue" it - that was late June.)

My CC has not yet been charged, nor is there a ticket number but, as indicated, can still select seating.

If not ticketed within 2 months, I will be taking action - don't want to miss my lounge time dealing with such stuff at the airport. :p

I had a similar situation with a Qantas booking that I believe was ticketed and OK. I arrived in SIN only to be told that I have no booking. Apparently someone entered the wrong credit card details when I made some changes to the booking and spent over an hour fixing up these issues.

You would think though that if Qantas has a booking and payment has not been taken that they would advise the customer before they are due to fly and not on the day of the flight.

Luckily I had a 4 hour transit and it did not matter and I did not lose my allocated seats either.

I booked and (never) paid or a J flight on QF once. I've flown it months ago. Earnt miles :)

Sent from my Telstra iPhone using the Australian Frequent Flyer application.

I have filled all of the ESTA details. I'll call Qantas. I'm sort of worried because I bought it from Expedia Ireland on a very cheap fare that prob shouldn't of been sold within Australia- I dont want Qantas to turn around and say you cant fly on that flight.
