Supposed to be heading to Norfolk Island on the 28th December. I'm not from Sydney or the northern beaches. As Air NZ uses the International terminal, I'm wondering if we come back with all of the returning, possibly positive, Covid cases or is there a separate "track" you use? Has anyone done this recently? Also, does anyone have any idea which 2 hotels will be the designated ones for air crew? Thanks in advance.

I don't know the answer to this exactly, but Norfolk Island is now requiring anyone who has been in Sydney in the past 14 days to quarantine on arrival. Not sure how this would work if you're just transiting through SYD, but I suspect it may apply to everyone on the plane. If I remember correctly, previously they considered people transiting via SYD to have visited there (and therefore subject to quarantine requirements) but that may have changed.

This page seems to have the most up-to-date info on this - COVID-19 Travel Information and Entry Pass | Norfolk Island Regional Council

If you're not from Sydney, is it possible for you to change your Air NZ flight to go via BNE?

Also, does anyone have any idea which 2 hotels will be the designated ones for air crew? Thanks in advance.

I also don't know the answer to this - maybe someone else here does. But I believe they will be hotels close to Terminal 1 (maybe Rydges and another one?)
