No weapons allowed at InterContinental Perth City Centre

Instead of the usual facilities closed/physical credit card needed/etc. in the Important notice section, IC Perth City Centre has instead advised that no weapons are allowed at their property.

Kinda thought that would be a given?

Quite common annotation for hotels in Nth Am… Maybe someone at IHG thinks WA is the Wild West?…oh, wait…

When I used to lead safety and health for APAC for a US company we had some corporate auditors reviewing a small warehouse we were leasing in Melbourne’s northern suburbs. One of the non-compliances was that the sign at the entrance did not have the language “No firearms permitted” (or something to that effect).

It was a hard no from me on adding it to the sign.

From the trends over recent yesrs, perhaps US signs should also say “no shooting school kids on these premises”

I have seen signs "no weapons allowed" at a number of US hotels, shopping centres, restaurants etc over the years. It's quite a jarring piece of culture shock.
