No SC's for MH flights has cost me WP!!! What gives?

I believe they look at your rolling total over the three years and if its over 3600, should be OK, my own experience has seen this hold up with two bad years (both when the kids were born) seeing comps.

Thanks.
Is there any way of finding out your SC tally from previous years?

I keep my own records anyway, so that will come in handy in the future...

Mrs Buzzard & I got caught out on a CX flight ex ADL.
Even told the travel agent we specifically want a class that will earn points + SC.
This whole "some classes" business makes me see red - you are either One World or you're not

If your WP printed statements come in handy.

Uh oh, I never opted in for them. Well I got it once just to see what it's like then turned the option off because it was a *waste* of paper and I didn't think I'd need it. :D

All alliances - major global or not - share these aspects.

VA earning on SQ Y flights is a good example. That's caught a few people out.

*A (and not sure about Skyteam) can be worse because the earn is based on the operating carrier, not the marketing one, unlike in oneworld. For example, if you are on a H fare flying CX metal but JL code, you get credits based on JL table and whatever H translates to be. But on *A lets say you are on a S fare marketed by UA and operated by LH. To determine your earn, you need to look up the LH table, not the UA one. Not so bad, until you realise that fare codes don't necessarily align across carriers (e.g. the UA S fare doesn't necessarily map to a LH S fare).

It's a minefield!

I haven't kept the same impaccable records that many in this community do, so now I can't see my full history. But I'm pretty sure it goes roughly like this...
2009 - gold
2010 - cruised to WP with over 2400 SC's
2011 - just under WP but comp upgrade
2012 - made it to WP on my own with about 1500 SC's
2013 - dropped to Gold by bein 30 SC's short.

Strictly speaking this goes by the rules...but leaves a pretty bad taste (of substandard lounge drinks) in my mouth now. And I'm going to miss the FLounge Eggs Benedict and Wagyu Beef. Anyway... I won't be travelling so much now making it even harder to requalify. I probably could have kept making it to WP retain level.

Ouch, that smarts. It would definitely have been worth it to get those SCs somehow had it been clear that fare type was non-qualifying. I guess QF have deemed that you have used up your one freebie there. :(

I have only travelled Finnair once (business). Booking showed on QF website but I had a lot of trouble getting the points and SCs credited. Hang on to your boarding passes!!!

Thanks for the heads up. My Finnair flights were showing in my QF bookings but when I got to the airport i asked the CX check in staff to check my QFF on my ticket and nothing was shown! So I suspect there is some sort of glitch there? I have retained the BPs as well. The fares were "I" class

I've been WP for maybe 4 years. I have had a comp to retain WP once befor - after my first WP year. But I was well short and held no hope. Was surprised when I got the letter. And so this time after 4 years to be so short and have assumed it was going to happen based on these MH flights, pretty bloody dissappointing.

There is really no info on the MH site to define classes. I guess I have made the mistake of assuming OW airlines operate similar to Qf and all flight classes earn points. Without this transparency of booking classes, how is the average punter supposed to develop loyalty when a long time loyal flyer can get screwed like this.

Similar situations happened 3 times to me this year. Scan and email BP to QFF. I got the SC 3 weeks afterwards on all 3 occassions.

No comp to retain WP at 1170SC is reasonably harsh. Did the OP receive a comp to WP previously?

The irony is that I was on 1170 SC with my year end being 31 Aug & I had a BNE/ADL/BNE booked (FOC Amex ticket) 28-29 August giving me the remaining 30SC needed to requalify however I was comped early towards the end of August but still earned the 1,200 anyway so didn't need the comp anyway.
