No more QF chauffeur drive to LAX and DFW

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Why bother complaining? This sort of behaviour has now become par for the course with QF. We should be more surprised if they don't downgrade something.

Anyway, these threads will not achieve anything. QF have made it plain that they do not care what their customers think.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Just received the phone call.

2x FASA to LAX

"Take a cab, please"

Well, talk about a downer !

Glad I had burned the points as soon they would turn into Flybuys.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

It is rare that I complain about QF, because they rarely give me something to complain about.
However this has really P....d me off.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

I just came out of a meeting - had a couple of missed calls about the same time people reported being called.

I note that chauffeur drive is no longer showing as booked in my booking and if I go to do it again:

Transfer to the airport

Sorry, you are not eligible to book a transfer to the airport.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

I am trying to think of analogies. Perhaps prepaid hotel accommodation that always included breakfast (ie it's part of what the hotel offers to all guests), and then you got a call from the hotel saying "sorry, we have decided to close down our restaurant so can no longer provide breakfast, you will now have to find and pay for your own breakfast". Fine for new bookings, people understand breakfast is not included in the rate, but a bit of a downer for people who booked expecting that breakfast is included.

I am worried.... for Qantas.

Business plans need to have a life / projection worked out well in advance.

To quit mid stream like this !

Suggests to me QF is in a dire state.

Bearing in mind only premium cabins are affected and further, the US route is the only route where QF has a well known advantage.

Sad, not only for me !

This is absolute stupidity if it wasn't costing them much then why bother canning it???? Are things really that bad at QF they need to cut costs on what are over priced and under whelming services already.

Note to self BURN all points quickly before QF DIES !!!!!!!!!!!

I did !

I declined a OPM* trip so that I could burn on 2x FASAs which are now CD-less !

Still glad I did use them as ... with this rate, I may just qualify for a 2-megapixel camera in 12 months' time.

*: OPM = other people's money

I know it was only one day and a small sample size , But i did count about 20 or more drivers standing around as you exit TBIT with signs waiting for QF pax to arrive the other week. This was around 10am ( QF107 was delayed and arrived at same time as QF11)

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

At least they should have had the decency to supply cars booked already.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

It's very nice of QF to give the info to the travel industry/travel agents so they can do the dirty work. I don't see anything on their website yet. Bad bad move QF. You're a joke.

Some real explanation might be warranted. Red Roo where are you?

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

I just wanted to say... congratulations to Qantas...! another brilliant own goal :D

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

I am furious with this decision !!
How can QF only offer this until the end of July. Any booking made whilst CD was on offer should be honored. You cannot offer a service, take someone's money and then just spit it back in the customers face.
So mad with you now QF- You're the reason you won't be flying in 2015!

Couldn't agree more!

Qantas are making it very hard for me to be loyal to them, not just because they have canned CD but because of the way it' been done.

How dare they not make good on existing bookings!

Red Roo's absence is conspicuous here.

Nasty play by QF.

Had decided based on the "simpler/fairer" changes to quit the QFF game, burn all points on a great trip, run with BFOD (incl points from AMEX's MR program) and from now on buy Woolworths Gift Cards with any QFF points earned.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Could it be that Red Roo is on already the job, furiously consulting with the Qantas Loyalty team and putting together a nice Rockpool Lunch with a beaut question to be answered so they can sort out the invitees, who will be flown to Sydney. People from the Loyalty team will be present at the lunch to explain this latest round of 'simpler, fairer' (TM) enhancements. There will be a nice little menu printed, and prezzies at the end. Mac and cheese will be discussed. The bookings for CD at LAX will be compared to Justin's height. A veritable frisson will go through AFF.

To help Red Roo get it started, maybe we could pre-empt the invitee-sorter by putting it here. Finish this sentence in 25 words or less:

"I think its quite OK for Qantas not to honour CD bookings for after 30 June because.... "

(Note: Red Roo could also be sorting out people's actual issues with QF bookings, a task done very well and appreciated by all.)

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Just had a call from a Qantas rep advising of the cancellation of service. As she started by saying "this phone call will be recorded for training/etc purposes...", I made sure I said what I thought of the cancellation of service (albeit I made sure I was very polite, and emphasised I was saying my mind not TO her but for the sake of the recording).

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

Yes this is true. Just had the friendly call to cancel 2 existing chauffeur drive bookings :(
It seems a very slow death......of the Qantas brand.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

This doesn't effect me but really can't believe they're canceling already booked transfers.

Agree, it's really not a good look.

Re: No more QF chauffer drive to LAX and DFW

when Qantas is calling to cancel, is anyone saying they don't accept the cancellation? And asking what compensation will be made?

Some suggestions:

  • reimbursement for a taxi/town car
  • a couple of QF lounge passes
  • a QF First lounge pass
  • 10,000 points
