No more Qantas points?

Just rang Amex MR section and was told the the Rewards Maximiser is not part of the Qantas Direct option. Which is fine, but a bit confusing when on the Amex website where it details the Qantas direct option that will be avail from 1st April, it makes no mention that some cards are not eligible.

On well, looks like Earth Platinum (with 20K bonus points and 3pt x $1 spend) is going to get an application from me within the next few days)

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just got off the phone from Amex who (initially) advised that the Rewards Maximiser card was not now available as a 'new' card, but those that have them continue to earn Amex points at 1.25. I was also told that the Rewards Maximiser will fall into the same category as other 'non branded' Amex cards as of next year whereby you will be unable to transfer your Amex points to QF. You will need to change cards and get a 'co branded' card such as the Premium or Ultimate, and for those with the Platinum Credit card which is $395pa the annual card fee for Qantas Ultimate card is $450 and with this card you continue to get 1.5 QF points transferred monthly.

For those wishing to still get the Rewards Maximiser here is the application form:

I have seen mainstream media advertisements for the Maximizer in the last month or so. It surprised me as this was the first time for several years I have seen this.

Although number may be dropping due to the April 1 change next year (1½ to 1¼ MR poits per $).

Westpac's Earth Platnium Amex card is $250.00 per year, with 1.5 QFF pts per $1 spend. I've read the fine print and there's not points capping.
The first year however the annual fee is only $125.00. The additional card fee is Nil.
I especially like the 20K bonus points after three purchases and 3 pts per $1 spend until 30 march 09 :D

I'm after a card which provides QFF points at a much lower annual fee than the Qantas platium etc, so I'm changing to this from my Amex rewards maximiser.

You also get a Earth mastercard with the deal which acrues .5 pts per $1 spend (for no additional fees for the extra card), which is good to have in case you come across an outlet that does not take amex. So I'll also cancel my ANZ QFF visa card which I was using if Amex was not accepted. A huge annual fee saving with this card cxld also.

I am using a Citi Gold VISA Photo card now (free annual fee). Will I be able to transfer my point to QFF after April 2009 if I opt into the QFF program? Will there be any additional joining ot precessing fee?

If i remember correctly isnt there some sort of restriction which says you must also have a lower card (lets say westpac gold) before you can be granted a Plat card, you then must also keep both cards to qualify for the plat.

I know this was the case with a certain plat card from westpac as i had one however i dont remember what card it was now.

Citi have not outlined the qantas points program yet.

Also,
They issued you with a photo card or was that something you had to request?

Not to my knowledge.

I recently applied (and was accepted) for an Earth Platinum and I have no banking history with Westpac whatsoever.

Ok back to the subject of Citibank cards.I really do not want to be limited to QFF for redemptions.Nothing else so far does anything for me on their awards catalogue.I have therefore emailed them saying I see no need to renew my card after 2009 unless they can come up with other rewards and have again suggested SPG and AA.My CBA card will do if velocity is the only redemption that means anything to me(though not that much).

I got my statement and it said something like, "from May or March 09, there will be a exciting new program for QFF,

which basically, means, the rate will go from 1:1 to something worse, and they will impose limits and restrictions.....

it doesn;t say this, but I can bet my life that this will happen

I have a Citbank GOld card
