No More International Lounge Access on Jetstar Flights (except QF codeshare/JQ business max)

From the WP newsletter:

From 1 July 2026, Qantas Lounge access will no longer be available to Complimentary Lounge Invitation holders, or to Platinum, Gold and Qantas Club members travelling on international Jetstar (JQ) flights. Customers who wish to continue accessing the Qantas lounge when flying with Jetstar can still do so by booking a Qantas codeshare flight operated by Jetstar, a Jetstar domestic flight, or a Jetstar Business Max fare.

I guess to be expected. Qantas group is practically bankrupt. Got to find savings somewhere. 🙄

I occasionally take JQ7 out of MEL and access the dungeon . But with the cancellation/delay risk probably tilts the equation back to the Scoot flight that has a similar schedule.

I guess that will put an end to those sneaky visits to the FLounge on certain JQi flights.
I always feared that those get-togethers in the Flounge when on JQ tag flights would eventually lead to this (especially posting on socials about them).

I guess they're attempting to increase the gap between JQ and QF.

However as usual, QF attempting to screw the customer as much as possible whilst lining the coffers of executives.

Vanessa really seems to want to gain the crown of being worse than Alan Joyce.

Well, I guess that might reduce some crowding in some lounges….

I much prefer this to the Joyce era habit of cannibalising QF to prop up JQ. Entire routes were gifted to JQ.

I feel like it’s entirely possible to completely avoid JQ now which is great.

But it would have been very easy just to target the tag flights.

Personally not happy with the short notice.

I've got a JQi flight later in the year where at least part of my rationale to choose JQ over alternates was based on lounge access.

I'm not surprised by this. I always see lots of JQ passengers in the F lounge. I think it is fair to allow status access when flying JQ but ticketed on QF.

So if you book a classic reward no F lounge at MEL for example? The two times I have done this it has a JQ flight number.

Pretty poor in my opinion for us occasion overseas flyers.

Pretty disappointing as someone who doesn't live in Sydney or Melbourne. I'm based in QLD and often fly JQ internationally either due to a lack of equivalent Qantas services locally, or due to the fact that JQ has quite a few unique routes that QF doesn't have at all. As a Platinum FF I find it insulting I'm having my (already mediocre) local lounge access taken away from me when flying JQi

Sure would be nice to allow booking JQ biz on the QF code, although lord knows what they'd charge. I've always preferred the direct MEL-SGN service vs. connecting, especially for the day flight.

To be fair why should occasional flyers get frequent flyer benefits (without receiving it from class of travel) ?

So a domestic road warrior WP who uses their points on a JQ flight (as QF likely doesn't fly there) for their one overseas holiday in the year and they get no lounge access? Seems poor to me. Not my situation but I can see this pissing off a lot of people who fly QF a lot.
