I am still in shock over loss of SPG !!!! My deadline has passed as well, 2 velocity points is the only consolation :(

Well it seems as though Citibank wants out from Diners.Couldn't sell it so now make it useless.
I only keep my DC because it is fee free.
The major worry I have for 2018 is will Marriott keep the same transfers as SPG now.

Seems like a strange strategy. The loss of SPG transfers just accelerates the irrelevance of Diners, if it's not worth their effort and they can't sell it, why not just shut it down?

I had a 20 min call with DC today. I explained them removal of SPG and AA aren't good, as it looses the few(very few) good points about DC. What the CC personnel told me that he had few figures, and out of a 7000 transfer, only ~32 were to SPG. I am surprised that this is the case. He said most of the people transfer to VA and QFF the most. They allow corporate card holder to transfer to QFF, but not personal card holders.

He did say that they will put in a note to send the comments to the higher ups, and they have had people call up and complain about this change.

Thanks for the feedback Loga2015 I've probably done 10 transfers myself in the last 12 months. From my reading of the DC thread over time, seems like pretty much the only place we transfer our DC points to. I think they might be underestimating the amount of activity to SPG (notwithstanding that AFF members aren't necessarily representative of all DC holders).

But for the fact they've added some more "mainstream" airlines, might wonder whether SPG points might be an expensive conversion option and with reduced interchange income (on the MC), that's the price of keeping the point earn stable. Also represents a harmonisation with airlines citi offers on its "direct" cards like Prestige.

The numbers are interesting. For reference I transfer to SPG every month and have done for 18 months. I literally transfer as soon as the points hit my Diners account. (Mainly because it can take an eternity for the transfer to happen.)

I do a monthly transfer to SPG too. Presumably I'm one of the 32. Agree that it is likely to be a cost issue.
If I stay (though there are a couple of higher rate MC/Visas around, the variety of earn/burn opportunities might swing it) , will probably look to CX transfers in the main.

I'm with you guys too. I've got one more transfer then that's it. Unfortunately for me this is all bad timing as I'm in the middle of approval for a home loan. Changing credit cards now could affect that somewhat so looks like I'll have to stay until I settle.

Just had a call from Diners - AA and SPG are being RETAINED as transfer partners! :)

I think our voices have been heard - great news for the consumer and great news from Diners - they have retained a loyal customer.

Good news. Did they give you an idea if the rate will change?

That's great news. Thanks for the update Auspointer. Have 2 SPG redemption stays coming up at expensive properties over the next 2 months. Glad a I can avoid HHonours & continue to use SPG for holiday accommodation.
