No more Champagne on the A380 ?

OT from the original question but just from Mrs RB's experience perhaps you can get hold of "pure wine" at Dans & some other outlets. Comes in a 4ml eyedrop like container & is designed to eliminate the preservatives without impacting the taste. Mrs RB says her friends now also swear by it. One drop per glass or 5 per bottle-bottle job not recommended unless you are going to finish the bottle in 1 session. (contains hydrogen peroxide)

Thanks. Will try, but I also prefer Italian & French wines for the taste.

When I read this, I see the scene during the movie Flying High when the FA announces that they are out of coffee and chaos breaks out!

Just not Trans-Tasman (the QF/EK alliance has been blocked from routes to/from NZ).

No seamless AKL-LHR in F with a Qantas flight number then?

May have to use IO more. More's the pity.

I'm on QF11 today - do I need to BYO? Maybe fill a flask at the lounge :)

I recall my first flight in F with BA from SYD to LHR (1989). The captain announced a 2-hour delay to take off so we ordered Champagne. Imagine our faces when the attendant said Australian Customs requirements didn't allow them to serve alcohol on the ground. When four of us asked for the cabin door to be opened so we could get off the Champagne was opened instead and fortunately didn't run out. It was paricularly nice with the bread and butter pudding prepared to order by the onboard chef!

I hope this was just a once off and not a sign of the times.
I remember in the early 2000's you used to be able to get sparkling on a busted cough QantasLink jet from CNS to Horn Island! ....And they only had one class of seat (not including the toilet seat).

It was not available on my two trans tasman flights (SYD-ZQN and AKL-SYD) at the end of January. "Australian Sparkling" was offered instead.

I didn't take note of what it was going out, but I've certainly had worse. I didn't consume any alcohol coming back as I was going straight to the office upon landing.

I'm looking for flights SYD-ZQN and return around Easter but I can only see them on JQ. Was your flight with QF?

Trans Tasman has just recently been downgraded to (most of the times pretty awful) Australia sparkling. Totally wrong thing to save a few bucks on in my opinion. On the proper long haul routes- I really can't see it happening, I bet the OP just suffered from some kind of catering mishap. I hope. I most seriously hope!

I will be going LHR to SIN in First early next week so I hope it is Taittinger !

Removal of the Billiecart or Taittinger from the trans tasman is surprising, but not unexpected I guess. Considering VA can still put a reasonable (not great but drinkable) Champagne on the trans-con flights, i'd have thought QF could manage some on the trans tasmans.

I'm quite happy with several lanson blacks and gin on my trans con runs (and until the mythical QF J seats are announced, and rolled out, starting end of *2014*) I'll stick with VA (just for the Champagne, at least that's my excuse!).

Just realized that the bloody QF website still lies about offering champagne on Trans-Tasman J class

Pe was 'enhanced' for a while where Australian sparkling was being offered. Then went back to champagne.

Oh really- proper champagne is back in PE? Haven't been in PE for such a long time so assumed it still was the coughpy "sparkling"...

Ha! He's pulling your leg.
I flew QF1 in F on Sunday and I can assure you the vintage Tatt was flowing all night long...
Qantas would never remove Champagne from F... I doubt they'd even remove Vintage Champagne, they pride themselves on their cellar, and justifiably so.

Must see what's on offer in BNE F lounge

I won't be back there til May, and have been routing through SYD lately, but I've always found it be Taittinger in the fridge in BNE F Lounge/the Plat Room. ;)
