No meal on Jetstar Starclass domestic flight?

I flew on JQ27 on Monday from Melbourne to Sydney, paid for Starclass as needed some extra status credits, so the flight cost around $485 with the plus package. As the flight departed at 12.20pm I was expecting to get lunch or some type of meal but the only service was a flight attendant walking around with a tray containing a choice of a small packet of popcorn, chips, lindt bar or peanuts. Hardly "business class"? Now i realise that I was probably the only person who had actually paid for a ticket as most of the other passengers in Starclass were Qantas crew, but was I being unrealistic in expecting to get a meal?

Although $485 is still cheaper than a Business class flight on Qantas on the same route, I would have been disappointed too had I paid that much for Business class and got a bag of peanuts.

To be honest I didn't notice any specific reference to a meal so that should have been my clue

Funny the variations on what you get one 1 hr flights between airlines.

AC in J - Toronto to Ottawa, pre-flight drinks and nibbles and a full meal service
AA in F - LAX - LAS, one drink and a bag of pretzels

I did the same trip last year on a JQ domestic J Sector, I asked the CSM about a meal and I was told that Only drinks & light snacks provided on the domestic sectors.
On international sectors is where a hot meal is served .

I agree, it's disappointing from a catering perspective.

Just another reason for me to walk rather than ever fly JQ ever again.
Had the same thing happen on an old JQ Max ticket from HBA to MEL in 2011 and have refused to fly with them ever since.
Work paid but I felt embarrassed by the $480 fare and the argument at the check in counter where they tried to charge $80 to put my hand baggage of 8Kg (7Kg limit) in the hold.

Never has there been hot meal up front on these sectors.

I have flown "Starclass" dozens of times between Melbourne and Sydney - starting back when it was $229 one way to earn 40SC's. (FWIW, never since they introduced "Business" class and plus/max packs!)

None of these flights had any meal catering - I was aware of this and would appropriately use the lounge prior to travel for sustenance.

Notwithstanding that, I never had any issue with getting snacks/drinks off the card FOC.
