I was juggling with a JASA return from OZFEST, but still unsure on dates. Some availability around 45k points a few days ago appears to have jumped to all availability for the next few months being 200k+. (That's DRW-SYD)
Also SYD-BNE was 21k, now 81k approx. John.

That is a sign that there were classic awards available on the dates you were looking at, but these have now gone.

Yes I saw that happen when I walked home from the AFL Grand Final(first one) and the flights PER-MEL jumped to 200k for the next weeks game.
Supply and demand push/pull is alive and well at QF.

Could I politely point out that a simple SYD-BNE 7 months out is now 81k. Something has changed. That is the information I am wishing to convey. It is not just a specific date DRW-SYD I am posting about. Thanks kindly for reading my post oz_mark. Best wishes.

Its really weird..

Expertflyer is saying there's U class availability on any date you care to choose, but there's no Business class awards showing up when you search for them through the Qantas website...

Here's hoping that it is a glitch and not an "enhancement". I was planning on booking a JASA today as well.

Yeah. Glitch I suspect!

I also searched, and can't find Classic J seats either....

With no classic J seats available, then JASAs will jump up to ~200K+ ... which does mirror what JohnSydney2000 is seeing.

Hopefully just one of the regular IT issues seen when dealing with Qantas!

JASA costs jump dramatically

Iwas thinking this was something to do with DRW. But by luck I was looking at a ADL-BNE flight this Friday. It had U9 in expert flyer. JASA was 29000 yesterday. Today the same flight is 155000 with U6 and I've taken 4 U fares with upgrades.

Looks like an enhancement.

Edit: well just checked no classic awards. Strange

This is indeed very worrying. My partner an I used to fly exclusively on JASAs domestically. I've just searched some dates in September, for our usual SYD-BNE return, and it's returning 81K each way per person. I'm not paying 320K in points for a 1 hour flight....

If I chose the minimum points (64,000 for the two seats), the cash amount was an astronomical $2200... that's only about $200 less than paying in full with cash..

I hope this is a glitch, as I will be very unimpressed that they've quadrupled the price permanently.... QFF is really going the wrong way about retaining it's customers, and loyal FF members...

Cheers
Oz

I also did some searches BNE-SYD, and can't find Classic availability in J.

I believe this is the root cause of the issue - that it's a glitch - and will be resolved once the famous crack team of Qantas IT get onto the issue (expect resolution Dec 2011 ;) )

Don't you mean December 2050?? ;)

JASA costs jump dramatically

This is a great example of somewhere Red Roo could be very useful, as this has the ability to impact a lot of the members here, as well as others not here, if it's a bug that just goes overlooked for a while.

Hi John,

The message I was trying to convey was that the 'something' was the lack of classic award availability. If the booking engine is not seeing them (for whatever reason), then you will simply be seeing a commercial fare converted to points.

If the booking engine can 'see' the classic awards, it has typically priced an ASA as a little more than the classic award.

Ouch,I looked too.
No Classic J anywhere I went.
JASAs all 4 to 5 times up.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Thanks very kindly Mark.
And , also, I think I am at serious risk of finally hitting 10 posts on AFF. Does this mean I can finally send a pm?

Maybe something related to a change in classic awards, it was only last week the specials finished! I noticed the increase myself this morning, mainly related to J as Y seemed to be normal level.

Has anyone phoned QF Premium to alert them to the fact that Classic Awards in J have all disappeared ??

Fixing that will fix the JASA problem.....
