No F to Ams.

Maybe I should have been a bit clearer or more direct with my request: "I want you to book me an F seat via MUC or FRA, and then connect me to AMS" but I guess it's a bit late for that now. Also GMOH's experience indicates it is possible, although not painless.

Further news from Airline Route

Singapore Airlines in late-December 2015 has opened reservation for Premium Economy Class for flights on Singapore – Amsterdam route, scheduled to begin on/after 01JUN16. Note the airline’s operational aircraft for this route continues to display Boeing 777-300ER, although First Class reservation remains closed for travel on/after 27MAR16.

SQ323 AMS1115 – 0555+1SIN 77W D

Update: Received a phone call from Singapore to tell me my booking to Ams was changed! The person was unaware that I had called the KF centre a few times, was wait-listing on alternative flights or that I had emailed them.
I calmly explained my requests again and she said they would call me back next week.

Good luck mew. I'm coming around to the idea of A350 J personally.

I was told nothing as it is now a mixed class redemption which costs 17500 more points to book than F all the way Mel-Ams.
If I change the Mel-Sin to J (which is one of my wait-lists), so is J all the way I get 37500 points back.

But what would you get back if you booked F and go J instead?

Mixed class redemptions price at rate of highest cabin class - so mix of F and J will price at F rates - with F benefits for all sectors.

You'd think that all this would not have been necessary if it hadn't been instigated by SQ, that you should automatically get one of your waitlists cleared a sap. The 2-3 days that they said they'd give you an answer by has passed. I'd be getting pretty frustrated and asking for a manger if no news within 24 hours.

I did ask whether they would give any points back due to lack of F service SIN AMS. No dice. My next call will be Sydney SQ office. If there's no joy there I'll give the KF call centre another shot, and if necessary escalate. If course, the time on the phone is not trivial, so if annoyance becomes greater than perceived likelihood of success, I'll be beating a hasty retreat, and sucking up the downgrade (from a great F cabin, to what should be a state of the art J cabin).

Also: no reply to my email yet CE. Maybe the KF agent has marked it as actioned.

Also: there seems to be a move away from F on many carriers, with the introduction of better and better J seating, and the introduction of PE. This leaves the new J offering basically the same level of hard product that used to be seen in F, whilst PE replaces the sort of product which used to be sold as J. Y remains Y. Consumers are mostly the winners as the ticket prices haven't kept pace with inflation. Thoughts?

When do you get a TPR pass? Have you ever run into problems with this? My transit time in Changi is short, so it would just be a quick visit to see what it's like... Are there any other F benefits worth having?

Check in procedure as designated by SQ requires ALL R and F pax who depart from ports which are serviced by aircraft fitted with R / F cabins to be supplied with hand written TPR invitations at time of check in. Most Australian ports and several others around the world are not adhering to this - however all ports have stock on hand as they are supplied from SIN along with BP stock.

Ports that are not serviced by aircraft fitted with R / F cabins such as BNE, PER and ADL probably do not have TPR stock but I am not 100% sure on that as I never fly out of them.

However your BP also has the TPR access printed on front so you only need to ever flash the Gold R or Maroon F BP to gain access to SKL F and then into TPR. If check in agent does not supply - and by all means ask - then TPR lounge staff can arrange for you. TPR lounge staff will record your entry as you arrive - quite often they will ask you hand over your TPR invitation but tell them you want to keep for souvenir - they simply destroy them anyway.

quokka if it's your first SQ R or F exp make sure you get your hands on one - great souvenir.

I can confirm that IST had Suites bag tags at the checkin desks, even though there's no A380, so I'd imaging they'd have Suites BP stock/TPR invites too.

Latest update:

Have had 3 phone calls from Sing including one in response to my email.
I can either:
- Cancel my flights and get refunded
- proceed as currently confirmed (F to sing then J to ams) No offer of compensation.
-hope 1 of my 8 wait-lists comes up!!! Unlikely at this stage as they have all "spoken to the controller" and nothing changes.

I have spent enough time on this now and will force myself to endure J class :D The first world problems we have to face! Might try my luck closer to the time for some points back as compensation, but won't hold my breath.

Hope others are more successful.

Just to clarify, there was no offer/ability to route you to AMS with a confirmed seat flying F to another European destination, followed by Euro-business (or economy) to AMS?

I would think if you can find a revenue seat to another Euro hub, with a connection to AMS, that they should convert a revenue seat to award. If you wish to terminate in another Euro hub, that's a different matter (change in ticket).

Correct, no offer of a confirmed seat to any other Euro hub with or without a connector to Ams. Wait list only with a referral to the controller. No offer to convert a revenue seat at all.

Poor form.

You may get a wait list come through. It seems as if my re route via LHR was an early one off.
