No Boarding Pass in iPhone Passbook

Also, I can actually login quite quickly (previously, it was slower than concrete).

As I mentioned elsewhere, logging in was always quick, what took time was building the summary page. I gave up waiting for that page to appear and just clicked on some of the other buttons and they worked quite quickly.

Seems there is something still astray with the display of Virgin 2 for 1 flights, as it is now just blank for me. If I click on the more details link, it does give the correct number.

Mine was slow as concrete. nothing displayed for a good 2 minutes, then the side bar loaded. At least that's fast again now.

Mirrors my experience ... my account "sped back up" about a week ago now.

Mine is quicker, but I'd refrain from using the words "sped back up" as it's still just managing ordinary speed right now.

Just checked in for two flights tomorrow and neither come through to iPhone Passport - so still not fixed. On the plus side, first day return for a while and it let me checkin for the out and return flight even through the return is outside the 24 hour mark - so happy with that.

I don't know what this Passport app is everyone keeps referring to :p

Been frustrated with this for a couple of weeks now, and thought I was the only one. Have asked a few other travellers at random and others reported no probs. Curious as to whether anyone has tried with Qantas?

OLCI is now open from 48 hours out, which is why it would have allowed you to check in for both flights.

Passbook integration is dependent on the check-in website - QF's site is probably working fine. I think this was "enhanced" as a part of the Sabre install.. :-|

Qantas worked fine for me at the start of March.

My passbook integration is also back up and running through online check in this week which is nice, although when I got to the gate instead of the previous small 'receipt' they printed an entire boarding pass for me, so whilst it may be a time saver, it isn't really cutting down on much!

anyone know if it works on android phone, i.e. note 2

It didn't use to and this is something I gave them specific feedback on / information on how to make it work. I was able to get the .pkpass file and manually import it, but .. ugh.

If anyone with an upcoming VA domestic flight uses an Android phone and is feeling adventurous ... download PassWallet from the Google Play Store and see if doing mobile check-in in Chrome gives you the option to send the boarding pass to PassWallet?

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Having seen/done some work done for how Apple tell you to detect for Passbook friendly phones, they tell you to just check for iOS 6.
(Virgin also seem to detect the size of your browser window, and if it's too big.. they assume you are not passbook enabled either...)

If you use something like 'User Agent Switcher' on Chrome to change the User Agent to iPhone 5 with iOS6 then you will get the popup when visiting the URL "Hey it looks like you are have passwallet. click here to add -- which then sends you to a URL which downloads and adds the pkpass file to Passbook.

You can do the same on Android with Passwallet by going to:

hxxps://mobile.virginaustralia.com/boarding/pass.pkpass?key=<key>

Where <key> is the c= parameter in the normal mobile ticket/web page URL you go to. (it's a really long key) - Change hxxps to https

Hope this helps

P.S. The user agent for iOS 6 with iPhone 5 is:
Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 6_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/536.26 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Mobile/10A5355d Safari/8536.25

Edit: if you were wondering what it looks like...

So when it's all said and done, what's the benefit of using passbook? Now it doesn't work, I just leave it open on a Safari page and seems fine so why passbook?

You might have many tabs open and run out of memory, so at the gate Safari (or any other app) might need to be refreshed and that'll fail, so you'll be stood there trying to find the SMS with the link... but Passbook saves the actual pass. It's also meant to live update gate changes and such.
