About 2 hours into the flight from HKG to LHR yesterday, I wandered back to the F galley and found a pile of Mars Bars on the table. Checking to ensure nobody was watching, I took one and slid it into the pocket of my QF Sleeper Suit, then returned to my seat satisfied knowing I have just completed the requirements for stealing candy.

Today I checked on aa.com and found the two QF flights have posted and my status changed from Cardboard to Platinum. And my QF29 even posted as P for an extra bonus :D.
Code:
Date Transaction Description Mileage Bonus Total

05/25/06 PLT CHALLENGE BONUS-REG MEMBER 0 10,298 10,298
05/25/06 QANTAS AIRWAYS 613 J BNE-MEL 857 214 1,071
05/25/06 QANTAS AIRWAYS 29 P MEL-LHR 10,298 5,149 15.447

TOTAL MILES POSTED 11,155 15,661 26,816
Now I can really enjoy eating my newly acquired Mars Bar :D.

Indeed an excellently unplanned use of an AA loophole NM. Hope there are more to come your way...

he he ... my very own thread .

Well, the extra AA miles did cost me 60,000 QF miles. Oh yes, and QF threw in a better seat for my effort .

Here is an update on my candy theiving experience last month. After almost completing my DONE4 (still have a BNE-MEL-BNE to go), my AAdvantage summary states:

Program miles to date: 104,572
YTD Elite Qualifying Points: 56,738
YTD Elite Qualifying Miles: 37,823
YTD Elite Qualifying Segments: 13
Miles towards Elite Upgrades: 37,823
Upgrade Account Balance: 12

So that one trip has earned me enough for 5 return flights in economy anywhere in Australia/NZ, as well as AA Platinum status through to Feb 2008.
