Nine feared dead in mid-air collision

Nine people are feared dead after a helicopter carrying Italian tourists collided with a light plane over New York's Hudson River.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said two deaths were confirmed and there was almost no hope of finding survivors after the accident, which took place in full view of horrified onlookers just after noon on Saturday.
The helicopter was carrying five Italian tourists and a pilot. Two passengers, including one child, and a pilot were aboard the single-propeller plane, the mayor said.
Sad news,my thoughts are with the families of those lost.

This incident is obviously a major component in the news broadcasts here in NYC.The pilot of the chopper was a new zealander who had just got engaged.
There were meant to be 6 Italian tourists in the chopper but 1 woman felt that there would be a problem and didnt board at the last minute.
The chopper was hit from behind by the plane who was climbing and executing a sharp right turn. The wreckage of the chopper has been recovered. The plane has been located and recovery is being attempted right now.
A true disaster.
