Nick name used on Flight booking

Hi I fly once a month, but my company books my flights using my nick name.
is there a way to add my nick name to my frequent Flyer account?

Why would they do that? Just have the flights booked in your name. That will solve all related potential problems.

I would suggest you get your company to start booking your flights with your real name, while its only a recommendation at this stage, it is being proposed that your ID be checked before boarding and I doubt you have photo ID with your nickname.

I tried to get them to change my name on my flight booked for next week, but the booking dept is located in Sydney and they have used the name & information i have provided & filled in the system. Is there any way a nick name can be added to my frequent flyer details?

No, and it probably wouldn't do you any good if a nick name was in your frequent flyer details. You may well get away with this for domestic flying (generally, no-one checks for Photo ID -- however there is a proposal to change this, per markis10), but for international flying, the name in your booking must match your name per your Passport.

I'd highly recommend speaking to your travel department and have them correct your name going forward for any future travel bookings.

I am know by my middle name BUT must always make a booking using my first name.

Always feel strange when traveling and to be called by my first name.

Very strange that your travel department allows the booking under your nickname.

I totally agree with everything that has been said here - though I will add that if your FF programme is Velocity, there is a facility to have a nickname or preferred name on your account - though this doesn't come up on your bookings or on your cards. I have often wondered if this is stored somewhere (maybe being addressed as such on a plane - but nope: must just be there to make you more comfortable). Hence when I log into my Velocity account it says Misha, though formal name is different...

I am also known by my middle name and have a habit of putting both my first and middle names into my bookings. With Virgin and Jetstar, their websites won't take my FF data if I'm booked as 'LAST NAME/FIRST NAME MIDDLE NAME MR'. I often get an error message claiming that the names don't match. This is despite having my middle name registered with both Velocity (in the 'preferred name' field) and QFF (which had a middle name field when I signed up). I have to either drop my middle name from the booking or ring up the call center to insert my FF number after the booking is made - an activity I'd prefer to avoid with JQ as calls take so long to get answered with them.

Booking under a nickname is a definite no-no however. I've no idea how your travel department let this happen in the first place. Presumably they assumed that was your legal name without checking up the relevant details?

There are a lot of Asian people who live by their nick name. For example, I booked a flight for a Mr Mario Zhang to find out this wasn't his actual name, but the English one chosen while dealing with Euro countries

Yeah nick name is Preggie(i am a male if any ladies are wondering if i am pregnant all the time), no i am not fat & i have only one daughter. My middle name is Pregasen, which got shortened by my mom calling me over the years to Pregs, prega, preggie, the latter stuck!

New Staff was the excuse from Admin, but more my fault for using my Nick Name on all correspondances, emails & signatures. I used my Nick Name because u dont want to know what my real name is!

I'm not sure if the 'preferred first name' is used anywhere but in Velocity communications. The do say that your 'first name' is what should be on tickets etc.

i have been onto the QFF website & tried to log a new account, it now has the option of a prefered name, but it did not; when i signed up 2 years ago!

Yogananthan is whats on my passport, i should have changed it!
but Preggie isnt great either!
