Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Theme last night was a Victorian odyssey. Each person had a different GI region from Victoria. What we certainly concluded is that Cabernet is not Victoria's strong point

Agree. I buy quite a lot of Victorian wines but almost never strait CS. There are some brilliant Bordeaux blend though.

Tasted the Savaterre 24 the other day at a Beechworth event. It will be brilliant in few years.

Hope you guys liked the Sorrenberg, it’s my favourite Aussie Gamay 😋

FWIW the recent new release of the Adelaide hills Shaw and Smith Gamay is lovely.

We did but it's a bit of a novelty at that price point. It also doesn't exactly have too much competition of Aussie Gamay ;)

I buy them direct, good value for the quality IMO as well as their Chardonnay which is a bit more expensive but worth it 👍

I usually like to post about nice wines that I had but this time I’ll share two not so nice wines, each comes at a whopping RRP of $100.

The Pertaringa YEOMAN 2018 wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either, just a boring wine with no character. I paid $40 for it, not a terrible value but also not a wine I’d like to drink again.

The Penley EOS 2017 was much worse, it had absolutely nothing going for it. No structure, no balance and not a hint of complexity expected from a wine of this RRP. I paid “only” $20 for it on clearance thinking I was winning but the joke was on me because it doesn’t worth even that much. Had two glasses and down the sink the rest went. Life’s too short to drink bad wine.

After two consecutive failures I had to go for a safe bet. The 389 never disappoints 🙂
