exactly - and who doesn't like good handmade lemonade?

Bought these 2 bottles of each at a supermarket, around $20-$30 per bottle, both had a bottled corked, smell like a wet towel been hanging at your bathroom for a few days.

The other bottle of 08, tasted normal , some black fruit left, quite simple, more on the past the peak side than on its peak.

The 2013 was a bit better in terms of flavour, but both of these are quite simple, cheap but won’t buy again.

And since we don’t have even wine, a friend brought in a “spare” in case someone want something different. 6 of us nearly finished that bottle, a nice 3 and a half hour lunch.

Caught up with some old work friends for an express BYO lunch at Cosi in Sth Yarra….was trying to remember where the Savaterre came from and just looked it up - a $40 price match at Dan’s!

Pertaringa is a favourite of mine - big bold flavor driven which I always enjoy although I know others view differently - Michael is the Ette’s all time fave - she scuttles up to highest point in our cellar where I hide them without fear nor favour - 150 very much meh and I am a big Penfolds supporter - and who hasn’t had their lives saved hangover avoided by a soda water?

In Narita we passed on going to a lounge. It was quite a distance and with my knee replacement I didn’t want to walk that far. They have quickened the process so you just come off the plane and wait in a holding area instead of having to go thru a screening process. We would usually go to the ANA lounge.

So we are going to downsize in 2025. So now I have to concentrate on drinking the cellar. At it's peak close to 2000 bottles. I bought 1400 with me to the Sunshine Coast when we moved from the Hunter Valley in 1992. Fortunately I cut out buying winw about 4 years ago so now am down to just under a 100 bottles of table wines. The 37 bottles of vintage Port are probably going to take a bit longer.

Today I drank a bottle of 1996 Petaluma Reisling from their Hamlin Hill vineyard. The cork was still perfect and it was at peak or very slightly past. Which got me to thinking. What will our cold climate reislings be like with the screw tops. Certainly the reds I have had with screw tops are less advanced than their predecessors with corks. Unfortunately no way I am going to find out. Another 28 years to wait for a reisling I buy today will see me aged 105. Exceedingly unlikely I would get to taste it.
