been a while since my last post in this thread, so thought i might start with what i've been tasting rather than drinking...

Lunch at Donovan’s today - tell me 1st bottle you would choose?

surely a trick question when only one is below RRP?

So did you go the Grange with the 100% mark up @Cruiser Elite.
I still have about 40 bottles of Grange and rarely drink it.

The sad thing is that 100% mark-up isn't too bad. Some of the other wines are at a 3x mark-up

From Entre-Deux-Mers in Bordeaux. 100% Merlot and a stunning wine. Was gifted this bottle for a milestone birthday a few years ago and cracked it tonight with slow roasted lamb shoulder. Drinking superbly right now and shows that you can have a great bottle of Merlot (that's not Petrus)

Finally had my Langtons auction goodies delivered now that it has cooled down. Cork crumbled at the top, but was pretty solid towards the bottom. Seal must've been intact though as doesn't appear to have oxidised. Tea infuser to the rescue to filter out the sediment.

Very interesting wine with good depth but as I suspected far too young. "Vinophilia". Very good and strong fruits and strong bitter tannins, with Merlot and CF predominant, but not integrated yet. Going into cellar for some years.

EDIT: moss wood just opening up after 2 hrs. Now softer tannins, mushrooms, blackberries, tar, all spice, leather? Yum.

It is just so tough when you are in a foreign place and you have to try wines you are unfamiliar with @Cruiser Elite. In the US it took me a while to figure what reds were drinkable.
