Nice wines I have drunk recently - Red or White

Actually both got 98 points from JH. Go figure...

Well I be damned...whats the point in doing a reserve wine if Halliday will sell your estate wine with a nicely inflated score 😂

I much preferred the ‘18 estate over the reserve😊
I am the opposite after a tasting at the cellar door a few weeks ago. My feelings were that the estate is a very nice PN to drink over the next 3-5 years and for drinking now better value. The Reserve was more complex and structured for a longer life of 10+ years, but also ready to drink right now. It may or may not improve, but I am confident it will develop the aged characters (& not fall over) I like so mine will join its older siblings.

I don’t think either are a 98 point wine, using my own scoring I would give the estate 93-94 and the reserve 94-95

Irony, sacrilege, or taking the p!ss? You be the judge.. 🧐

At Ristorante La Scarpetta tonight.

But not in Certaldo where the wine is from (worth visiting BTW), but in Margaret River. 🤣🤣

Delicious, and a perfect match for the beef filetto with green peppercorn sauce. 👌😎

Hyuk, hyuk...

😜

Colour of the Art Series is amazing! Out of curiosity, what temp is your cellar at Daver6?

Yeah, we got lucky with an old wine. The cork totally crumbled and we didn't have the ideal tools, but made do. It wasn't form my cellar. It actually was supplied by a friend who picked it up from DMs.

My cellar is around 13C but over the summer months does go up a few degrees. Very little daily fluctuations though.

With the celebratory season fastly approaching I want to keep my eye out for some reasonably priced domestic sparkling. (Not an area that I am well versed in)

I was thinking of the below as a starting point:

- A by Arras/ Arras brute elite (DM selling in a twin pack)
- Seppelt Original Shiraz

Any experience with the above or alternate? Blanc de Blancs recommendations (sub $40)?

cheers
