Haven't caught up with this thread for two weeks. That does look quite lovely.
I hope you are not a fan of Gandhi.
Patrick riesling thru Vinimofo in a standard bott is extreley good and I would think this aged variant would be stunning, an 8.5 surely.

Last time I had Merlot on it’s own was years ago when QF F lounge decanter special used to be Irvine Grand Merlot.
Never been a fan of this grape but the palate changes over time so when I read that Highbank got high score plus it was offered at half price I decided to give it a go.
I’m trying to be positive and really want to like it but all I can say is that I’m still not a fan of Merlot :(

At least the bottle is pretty, will make a nice gift.

I'm drinking a straight Merlot tonight. Tastes indeed do change, I can't contemplate most Australian Shiraz these days until it's had some years in the bottle and the alcohol hit knocked off it. Bordeaux style is more my taste these days.

I picked up a few of these as well, mine won’t be given as gifts :p

Delectable blue... Where are you?
Gold canyon, wine world is always expandin'.
Merlot is such an interesting grape varietal and most of us have never had enough of it in its imperical form. Not many producers out there going for it except as a filler. It's a great doughnut filler. I reckon this one, which after researching appears to cost a Monty, is non descript, medium weight at best and not too floral.

You can always use it in the lamb shanks recipe I posted a week or so ago!

I have been drinking my way through a case of cleanskin Seppeltsfield vintage port.

The contents is very enjoyable but I am really struggling with the corks. Some of the worst I have seen. They all disintegrate as I try to remove them.

My strategy so far is to make a mess of each bottle then strain the contents into a spare bottle.

Don't really want to go out and buy a Butler's Theif or other specialised cork remover. Any thoughts or experience with dodgy corks?

I know you you don't want to, but a Durand is what you need. Not cheap, but given it will last you a lifetime, it's worth every cent. Otherwise, just butcher it and strain into a decanter.

Last night a friend put on a Pinot dinner. She was keen to share her vertical of Ata Rangis. There were a few other wines which I didn't get pictures of. For me, the 2014 was the best of the Ata Rangis. Most others leaned to the 2015 with a lot of interest for the 2016.

'Twas a good night. The '15 over the '14 Ata Rangi for me.

@TheRealTMA will recognise the Giant Steps. ;) Thanks, mate. It went down well.
