Needs more ABV ;) That fine elegant wine you've selected should go nicely with French food  Might have been a better match for the burger you had the other day ;)

I was expecting a comment about that. I tossed up while scoping the wine list whether to go Zin for that reason but I figured I could take away any remainder if it proved a monster and I have a cruisy day today.

It was remarkably elegant and certainly not hot, jammy or heavy in the slightest. It was very hard to believe that the ABV was so high.

You just wouldn’t get Zin so refined in Australia - the reason, of course, why I like to have a Zin when I’m in LOTFAP. Maybe the fact that I’m now awake at 0630h feeling top of the world says something about how well-integrated it was. It certainly went well with the sauce-rich food.

Where has the time gone ?....just a simple 2013 Star Lane Shiraz tonight which is drinking beautifully. To those who remember, I went on a big tasting a couple of Sunday nights ago and brought along the Coroile Llyod Shiraz 2011 which cracked a third placing all those years ago. Again, very well appreciated. But the surprise was the 2014 Lake Breeze cabernet which I have to say usurped its now near four times more expensive wine. Cheers all.

Serrat 4 tooth '17…. ( sorry thats a sheepish term.. been channeling steady..)… er fous toothe.. er Fourre-tout.. that it !!

The review is all a bit academic as Serrat bask in the complete disposal of almost all their '17 wines… amazing success

An eclectic mixture :
50 buckets of Barbera
33 buckets of Malbec
7 Buckets of Pinot Noir
10 Buckets of Nebbiolo
7 Buckets of Grenache Noir = 960 Bottles ( 2 of which were sold to moi .. along with 6 x 17 pinot ….)

On opening was almost banal.. no real signature and tending towards plonkishness (tho it clearly was not)
Second half of the bottle tonight was developing nicely ….which left me wondering…... what if ?

The answer is that wot if will have to wait as I only have one more (sob) and will lay it down somewhere really quiet for a future reprise

Love all the Pizzini Sangioveses :)
I agree. We enjoyed a spread of their wines last Friday at a dinner in Canberra, including a 'mystery' Nebiniolo, which was their 2014

I've just enjoyed the Pietra Rossa Sangiovese 2015 this evening, and looking at a bottle of the Forza di Ferro Sangiovese 2015 for this weekend's enjoyment.

I'm looking forward to drinking the Forza di Ferro we have. We also always have a couple bottles of Nonna Gisella available as a good quaffing wine
