Have a good friend and knows little about finding or booking Qantas award seats, was thought Y to LHR departing early July return early Aug next, she had no idea how many points it was - yet had 280K!, I found her F HKG/CDG - LHR/HKG, EK one way and BA return for 260K points and a mere $400 in fees and charges, having a stop over in HKG both ways. To get from BNE to HKG return she booked VA in Y and has stack of points there too for a possible upgrade, is she happy you betcha :)

Love it. Done that HKG-Europe redemption in F a few times and it's good value. You may have converted someone.

Yes she is over the moon, very excited. My friend is having a couple days in HK each way so arranging for an old Aussie friend (ret. HKG flight control manager for 26yrs) to take her to the Yacht Club for lunch, so for her it just gets better. I'm not sure how many OW 1st lounges there are in HKG? I've only been to the CX Pier.

Only 2 F lounges - CX Pier and CX Wing. Give her the CX lounge article from the age/smh traveller to get her started.

I've asked to book seats this morning if she hasn't, no TR as far as i know but I'll ask. She wanted to know what time the lounge opens in HKG I said 4.30am she departs 7.30am, so early mornin champers it will be.

Very nice! Karma points for all involved, hope she has a wonderful trip.

Sent her some lounge links, I guess in LHR there should be a few...

Which way is EK and which way is BA? If flying EK HKG-CDG, presumably with an EK flight number as a redemption, I am not sure that OW lounges will be accessible. On the way back, as the F terminates in HKG, then only arrival access would apply - and the F lounges are again out of play (and probably the Arrival as well, unless elite status held).

Its EK out of HKG, think they have a lounge there, it was booked through Qantas so might be able to use their lounge too, not sure if she gets the free limo service from EK in CDG as an F though?, departing LHR on BA, should be few OW F lounges there. Doubt arrival lounges would be of interest.

Will be able to access the QF lounge in HKG regardless of EK or QF flight number. If on a EK flight number, then the EK lounge as well, but I think that will be it - no access to the CX lounges.

Pity that we loved it but drank too much :p

Anyone know if my F class friend can access the EK limo service on CDG arrival?.
