Next double SC period?

I'm looking for thoughts on likely next double SC promotion date?

I know last year there was one the first two weeks of February, are we likely to see another around that time? I'm holing off booking a stack of flights but time is running out for me on some of them.

I appreciate no one outside of VA really knows so just interested in your best guess based on historical data

We had one in November which was spurious, but then it was the 10th anniversary. Maybe it will come around in February again, maybe it won't. Throw a dart at the dart board

Velocity CEO is changing so maybe they have other things on their mind?

But given their very weak bookings on NZ and HKG and LAX and no traction yet on Japan, maybe they will do it for just overseas bookings etc?

Nah not planning around it, just holding off booking for now. I've already re-qualified for Platinum inside 6 months and am close to re-re-qualifying with bookings already made for later this year, so no big deal but would be cool to gift my wife Platinum before May if possible.

I'm figuring I will wait until next week and if no news book what I need to then...yes, and like you will probably get notification of a DSC promo the following day

Velocity did run a DSC promo around this time last year - not that that really means anything.

VA are currently offering bonus points on long-haul flights until 9 February. It's unlikely they would run a DSC offer simultaneously. After that - who knows.

Is there any source on LAX being weak and no traction on Japan?

I thought LAX always did OK-ish and heard nothing about the new Japen flight in terms of loads.

I just logged into my husband's account and under "offers" there was a double SC offer from 28/01- 11/02.

So I quickly logged into my account and there is nothing there. We are both Platinum so no difference there. The only difference is he does more of his status credit earning on SQ & DL flights.

Maybe it's targeted? Has anyone else received this offer? I don't know if he received an email. He probably wouldn't read it if he did.

Did you do anything that you think might have triggered it? Lots of flight searches while logged into Velocity perhaps?

Mr J recently received a similar targeted offer, and yes, he received an email about it. He activated and used the offer as he decided he would bring forward a trip back to WA to see his parents.

To give some feedback re @SeaWolf's question above, I booked some flights during the November double SC offer for May this year, but he hadn't booked anything recently, nor had he been searching flights at all. He requalified for Gold in October last year but hasn't booked or travelled since (I push any SCs to him in a bid to keep at least one of us Gold for the moment, as we can't do enough travel at the moment to requalify both of us, in fact I'm about to drop down to Red ). So not sure what triggered the targeted offer.

I haven't done anything out of the ordinary as far as I am aware to trigger this. Over the last few days I have booked a domestic VA flight. I've also searched for domestic VA flights and just before payment backed out as I changed my mind. I also recently redeemed a couple DL flights using VA points.

Well, I've just gotten an offer for bonus points on Etihad.
I suspect the days of untargeted double status credit offers may be over. Probably for both airlines.
