Hi everyone,
Newbie on here, loving all the forums!
I am a qantas club member and only bronze ff. My partner and I have planned a trip to europe around Christmas, and we are wondering weather it is worth purchasing QC for her or not.
We are flying EK on SYD-DXB-LGW, CDG-DXB-SYD.
The main reason is the excess baggage, as we will both have snowboards with us. I know that I get an extra 12kg, but will she get the excess aswell?
Also, flying EK will we have access to any lounges at either SYD or CDG.

Also, when we arrive at gatwick, we need to transfer to heathrow to collect a car through Renault eurodrive. We get in Christmas Eve, I am thinking the easiest way will be a pre book town car, does anyone have any better solutions?

That's about it guys! Much appreciated!

Are you flying on a QF flight number? I am thinking there are no QC benefits for pax not on QF flight numbers.

you would want to check the price of the QC membership against the airline's excess baggage charge.

Thank you for your response MEL_Traveller, from what the emirates website is telling me it is $658 for 10 extra Kgs, and it is also telling me that as a Qantas club member an extra 12kg allowance is included. Not as worried about lounge access as we fly out of sydney at 6am..

i learned something today! qantas club get extra baggage on emirates! well... cost of spouse membership might make it worth it! (assuming you can get spouse/domestic partnership membership?)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

As for the lounge access question, by the time you are proposing to fly QANTAS, QP members will only get access to lounges in SYD and DXB if they have a QF flight number on their ticket. So if you book direct with EK, lounge access will depend on class of ticket. No QP access to lounges in CDG AFAIK.

By now I am sure you know that only QP members get the extra luggage, so your partner would need membership for the extra kgs if needed. So membership though AFF might work in your favour, with an accompanying spouse membership, if you both face the extra charge you quoted.
