Hello
Is there a glossary for all the acronyms on this thread?
In short I have 14000 Qantas FF points. I am booked on a Qantas flight to Madrid, economy. I guess I should have used my points to 'points and pay' for the ticket, but I didn't. So I will have some more points accrued after I return home in December. The previous points were accrued in Oct 2016. I am retired and not a frequent flier. I have looked up the terms for QFF points but of course can't remember the details. It was a while ago.I will look them up again but maybe some kind person could direct me to the best site for information. I would like suggestions of how best to use my Qantas ~28000( assuming I earn about another 14000 points for my upcoming flight next week.)
Thanks for any help
Gerri

Welcome to AFF.

Points + pay is normally a very poor use of your points.

Suggest you keep saving. 14,000 QFF wont usually get you very much.

It's very easy to keep your points activate even if you don't fly. One of the easiest ways is via Woolworths everyday rewards, where your points convert to Qantas points.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Truthfully, with Woolworths, unless you can accrue 2,000 Woolworths rewards points quickly, its a very slow road to collect QFF points.
Qantas credit cards if you are approved, or Qantas Cash, which is a prepaid mastercard but earns you QFF points, at 0.25points per Aud$1 spent in Aust.
This one moves from Qantas Cash to your QFF account monthly, which is better than Woolworths rewards, also note that Woolworths rewards do not give out points on prepaid mobile phone recharges.
14,000 QFF points and the 14,000 after the flight, equalling 28,000 QFF points might be close to getting you a free return from Au to NZ (18,000x2=36,000 exc taxes).
As QF do not fly to Madrid on its own, I assume you are flying BA or EK (Emirates). Note that with BA and EK, your QFF earn rates on these are quite low, if your Y economy flight from Au to MAD( Madrid) is with EK but with a QF flight number, you do earn as if you were flying a Qantas aircraft, but if your ticket carries an EK flight number only, then your earn rate goes down.

When you get back from your next trip, you should have at least enough points for a return domestic flight or a one-way flight to New Zealand. :)
