I am a current Qantas Platinum FF with 4-6 trips to the USA per year and 2 return trips to Oslo and 1 return trip to London per year. I’m about to move my base from Australia to NZ. I’ve been increasingly dissatisfied with how Qantas Platinum is treated by Codeshare partners to Oslo and the lack of ability to upgrade on codeshare flights. I’m thinking of jumping across to SG or AirNZ, any suggestions especially around upgrading with points? I had a good experience with SG 15 years back.
Thanks

Welcome to AFF @Theoneills .

AirNZ generally known as a terrible program so you’d probably want to avoid that.

SG = Singapore Air,? That would probably be a decent choice.

You might also consider Qatar as it’s in OneWorld like Qantas and it’s Avios are transferable around British Airways, Finnair, Iberia and Airlines. I think they fly direct to Oslo?

A warm welcome to AFF @Theoneills
My main program Is Aadvantage and with your travel patterns you would be able to gain status easily. Gold doesn't offer much .I am LTP which is just OWS.If you get to Explat OWE the benefits are much better.
Definitely not as good as they were especially the SWus which you only get if you have 2 milliion miles. Awards are less miles and taxes often extremely low.
I always have my AA number in and get recognition especially on JAL. Got a free upgrade J to F.

Definitely not NZ.

Who do you fly with now and what airlines and class of travel are you considering as alternatives? I guess the “upgrades” conundrum is because you’re flying whY? (ouch if that’s correct for the amount of flying).
