Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Same here for DJ, and I did 10 flights last week, don't mind the Galaxy Tabs but they need more content ;). You should try a few more QF QLD flights if you like reading.

As I am mainly doing capital cities QLD regional flights aren't that common.. So MEL-SYD I am very unlikely to get an non IFE A/C on QF where the odds for DJ are quite high. Actually I have only had 1 flight on DJ all year that still had LTA.

Seems to reinforce the sexist roles, women were in FA (serving) roles and the few men featured were pilots.
As previously noted all the people in the ad were young and good looking. Not realistic.

Surely in this day and age an advertisement should reflect reality and have people of both genders featured in both roles?

A male and female pilot at the front were the only flight crew in the ad (no one else is wearing pilot's hats ;)). I suppose this could be an example of both genders featured in both roles?

I'd also suggest that the proportion of female to male cabin crew may be quite accurate.

It's a good ad, catchy classy tune, interesting visuals - it gets your attention. And much better than that whiny noise that the other team have.

I was watching one of the old choir ads earlier today, and with their new partnership with EK they'll really be able two send them all over the world, so hope it makes a come back next year.

My Mainline flights in QLD have nearly all had IFE.

If you're referring to QFLink, you really should be comparing to the Ejets and ATR's (regional), neither of which have IFE IIRC.

But all Virgin brands have the same target and idea, which is young!

Works for them.

HAVING SAID ALL THAT..it seems to be WORLDWIDE advertising culture to feature females more than males.. at the end of the day i think we choose airlines on price/convenience/benefits

I have noticed McDonalds going for that younger leaner look with their burgers in their ads, neither are truly representative of the product you end up with ;)

A bit OT but I have a friend who is a DJ FA...she definitely fits the look.

I think this is the best TV commercial they've done to date. The music especially gives it a 'classic' airline feel, with the chic modern images of the aircraft and crew etc. Interesting points though about the seatback screens, also pillows on all the Economy seats...kind of sets a high expectation only to let down once onboard the 'real' thing.
Would be good if there were other versions of the commercial too, showcasing onboard service a bit more in Business class for example.

Correct

The majority of people fly between MEL/SYD/BNE/PER and not QLD regional flights

As a result most people do not get IFE on DJ where you will pretty much always get TVs (overhead mainly) on QF

Virgin would have a perfect set-up with either drop down IFE ever 5 or so rows or seat back IFE's along with a meal on every flight

Virgin hasn't yet got over their LCC beginnings and the cabin crew still reflect it. In the main they are not professional, and the randomness of a snack and lack of IFE in Y is also a LCC trait. And I'm certainly not impressed with their LCC-style call centre in Manila.

There are people on this board who think Virgin is wonderful, and good for them. Personally I prefer QF/JQ, where I can use my FF points to good effect all over the world, and as a Gold FF am treated with a modicum of respect.

Am I the only one that noticed they are using 737 J seats in the ad, even though it's an A330?

Personally I would rather have NO food than cough food anyway of the week. That's not a dig at QF but more the industry in general.

I used to really enjoy the pies on DJ in PE but I have to admit I have not been on a DJ plane in almost a year!

All my flying is now on QF but their food is horrible. Stale muffins, soggy quiche, or sandwiches that were made a week ago and stored in the freezer until required????

I don't believe that it is fair to say that DJ is still harbouring LCC traits but that is your opinion and I respect that! I think the industry as a whole is changing and some carriers are adapting new ideas quicker than others.

.

To be fair Virgin have moved a lot of their old guard 'silly' cabin crew on and you see a lot more older & professional crew on board these days from my experience. The stupid jokes and laughing through safety demos has largely been eradicated. The old fun and flair is really being slowly removed for a more professional approach. Certainly they've only featured younger models in the ads but that's Virgin for you.

Agree RE: their call centre. I'm sure I read somewhere this was being back to Aus at some point though....

you should have been on the end of Kim the CSM on SYD/MEL Saturday 715 tacky pointless jokes - from dimming the lights to make the PAX look better to pointless footy jibes.

Their handling of our previous evenings cancelled flight, through to not looking after stranded PAX (my reference being to a young couple with a 7 month old baby) from a mid afternoon flight - yes they may be FUN TO FLY WITH but when something goes wrong, they pretty much suck.

I'd be reporting that, certainly out of the norm. I've done close to 250 flights with them since January 2011, and all the cheesy jokes were filled off since I started flying with them.

I agree, it also makes the other Kim's who are CSMs look bad when I know at least two are top performers, both QLDrs.

Ok fair point, clearly they have a few more to train up/get rid of!.... as others have pointed out hope you reported this... No complaints no change I guess.
