New Vietnam Airlines paid status match offer

Just noticed this on ET (an ad - looked like a story) . Reasonably interested as I'm vaguely contemplating doing some SkyTeam flying next year. That is, until I saw the fees: US$100- $300 !! Ya kidding me.

The last status match I noticed (and took up) run by Statusmatch.com was for LATAM and fallible memory thinks it was ~US$80 for a Plat match.

Yeah it's been around for a wee while ..I decided not to bother.

Their entire Lotusmiles program is now required to complete Marketing101.

Note their complementary upgrade wording "Get a free upgrade to Business Class if the member purchases an Economy or Premium Economy ticket, but when checking in, the seats of the class tickets are full, and Business Class seats are available (priority order applies)".

I don’t know if it’s changed recently or improved but just be aware that SkyTeam can get very funny about lounge access if the FFP program isn’t on your boarding pass.
In the past we have been refused lounge entry at a number of ports but thankfully we just buy J tickets now so no problems. Haven’t flown Y on SkyTeam for a while to test if they have improved their system

This wasn’t available to Australia previously. Qantas and Virgin are now both eligible with like for like paid status matches at $80USD a pop. So Qantas Platinum and Virgin Platinum should match to their equivalent, LATAM Black.

Some of the bloggers are stating the match lasts until March 2024, but the LATAM website states March 2025. Maybe take a screenshot to hold them to their word. Also no end date, so get in quick before they shut this down after being flooded with matches.
