I do agree with the comment however according to some reports I have read the cost is reported to be between 6-8 billion dollars. (and know doubt they will blow that estimate) As I don't have any idea on the financing costs of such an adventure is there any Australian company that wants to invest that amount of money without any government backup or assurity.

Looks like overseas pension funds and various holding companies are quite keen on owning airports, this article puts the value of Heathrow at AUD9B (£4.5B) (Press Releases | Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec | Global Investor | Hedge funds). So I guess they want to raise a levy simply because it's "free" money, not due to lack of interest in Australian infrastructure from overseas investors.

No ... you have decided not to ... many in a simular situation as you quite legally claim such travel expenses, part or all.

Just because you have decided not to persue this does not mean others shouldn't/can't.

I only post contrary to each of your posts on this topic as you give an impresstion that is simply wrong.
Where I did say others can't or shouldn't do so?

I am saying I cannot do it. Accountant has advised against it.

Your statment could be read as general: I have an accountant with a different opinion.
It is not a general statement. It is my experience and I guess most people's experience. You and medhead are the only ones I have heard claim "work related" expenses and even then medhead only claims ~20%.

It is not a general statement. It is my experience ...
In that case you should have been specific in regards to your choice:
We've been through this discussion in another thread. I Cannot claim work related expenses as a full time employee according to my accountant.
FWIW i have been using the same accountant since 1987. I am very happy with them.
