Well i will be planning a trip to Japan in Dec and i need to get to Osaka (usually i fly in direct) so maybe i can give it a go.
Does this mean 8000yen surcharge on any seat i wonder ? because you can already by seats on that route for 10,000 yen economy. So total cost 18,000yen or around $180

I tried going to their website but they only seem to publish flight schedules and not take bookings on their website!

But it seems like a great opportunity - I don't know distances of these flights, but how many status credits would you be getting for your approximately $180 flight?

Correct, cannot book JAL via web site (atleast that i can see or people in Japan that know some Japanese can see), but can be done via agents there)

Less than 600 miles, only 60 SC in first.

HND-ITM = 251mi
HND-cough = 549mi
HND-SPK = 510mi

So far no routes have been announced above 600mi which would earn 90 SC in First.

I can't work out the JAL japan website. How on earth do you book etickets there? Surely its possible...??

I want to book an eticket from Tokyo to Sapporo. For an extra $10 (1000 yen) i'm going J class. But no food served on domestic flights!! Even in J!

The other confusing thing is QFF airline earning table and SC on JAL.

Says J domestic earns at economy rates and does not even mention First domestic.

However, on my last biz circle asia i took JAL J domestic from Tokyo (HND) to Osaka (ITM) and it posted as biz SC... luckily!

Will be interesting to see what F domestic on JAL posts as in terms of SC on QFF.

Does not mention JAL F domestic as it will not be available until 1 November 2007.

For JAL J domestic the SCs credit as business class SCs but the FF points are credited as per the QF airline earning table at reduced rates based on the class of travel.

I would expect that the SCs would post as F SCs but the FF points may credit at discounted rates to normal F class.

It will all depend on the booking code used for the flights and how the QFF system interprets that booking code.

If the booking code used if F or A, then I would expect it to post as First Class SCs and cabin bonus. If they use some other booking code, then its anyone's guess as to how the flight will be interpreted.

The name of the cabin is not relevant, its the booking code on the ticket purchased that counts.
