Just thought I would drop everyone a line as I have just attained Silver membership.

It was a struggle for me as my company only fly me on discount economy and I have made Silver membership since my July anniversary date. If I keep going at this rate I may even just make Gold in time for the new year.

Thanks for everyone's help with the questions I have raised over the last couple of months.

Congrats :)

I made silver for the first time this year too. Most of my flying is also in Discount Economy domestically + 1 domestic international flight. Silver doesn't really add much benefit, but its a good achievement - I remember getting excited opening the package from Qantas.

In addition for most of my stints, the BFOD policy means I fly one way with Qantas and the other with Virgin...

Anyhow, I have til 31st December to get another 60 SCs to make Gold, with a one-way discount economy ticket to Hong Kong, only earning me 30 SC's....so I'm unsure what I'll do to try and get to Gold.

COngratulations on your new status Jab. I know what a slow road it can be in Discount economy!

Congratulations JAB.

I know how excited I was when I first made Silver. Good luck with Gold.

Congratulations on Silver and good luck for Gold.:D
I noticed that I seemed to receive a little more attention and scored those NZ domestic J seats as soon as I hit silver, but I also joined a couple of forums that helped me along. I guess if you fly on routes that may not have many status flyers then silver may be a benefit.
