Hi QFFers,
Flying tomorrow morning MEL-OOL and just wondering if the increased security measures are really affecting check in as much as reported. Will be checking in golf clubs but otherwise hand luggage. Do I really need to get there 2 hours prior? Any experiences/feedback from recent DOM travellers welcome. Thanks, M

I flew MEL - SYD on Tuesday morning. Arrived around 6.45am for 8am flight. No more queues than normal at that time.

I've had nearly a dozen flights international and domestic (MEL, SYD, ADL, CNS, CBR) this past week or so and if anything security was quicker than usual. Though I did notice more staff (especially Border Force staff in MEL international) and was watched more closely than normal - but no delays.

There are news reports that regulations may be changed to tighten security to be closer to what it's like flying Domestic in the US.

Obviously that would take some time to implement.

They should include the Intl to Dom transfers in SYD in this. I (sometimes) seriously wonder if the staff are paying attention at the security check here.
