New safety video

No JT for ADL-SYD and SYD-CBR yesterday. As others have noted: the video was disjointed, & the pilot did his job ok (could have been a tad smoother).

My BNE - CNS flights last week had JT still singing the QF pilots praises, but with a coughpit scene added showing the flight crew grinning at us.

Perhaps the crews are purloining the tapes and keep playing the "old" ones:D

The coughpit scene has always been there...

"remember the team are here to look after you so follow their instructions at all times...." I have the feeling i have heard that one too many times!!

Today I flew QF534 SYD to BNE and still had the JT safety video.

I was very surprised.

I've had a mixture of the previous and new safety videos on domestic flights over the last week on 734s and 738s.

JT makes a comeback... both of yesterday's segments CBR-SYD SYD-BNE featured JT.

I didn't like the JT video to start with, now as soon as I hear the JT video music start, I cringe.

Could have sworn the line about we know you know how to use a seat belt, but here's a few tips on how this one works wasn't there any more, but I was pretty tired so maybe I just missed it.

Nope - it's still there. One of the classic pieces of Qantas "let me piss on your head and tell you it's raining" corporate communications.

(My other current favorite is the sign in the lounges that says (paraphrasing) "we understand that a lot of people have food allergies .... and we've done nothing to accommodate you, so be careful".

This constant desire to sugarcoat just irritates. It tells me that (1) they have a very unhealthy corporate culture, in that they try to spin EVERYTHING, and (2) they really think that we're all idiots.

(To be clear, I have no problem with the basic message in either case: we know that they're required by law to explain the operation of the seatbelt, and I personally don't expect them to cater for every possible food allergy, and I think it's fine to warn people. But in each case, an unadorned communication would be more honest, effective and respectful).

/rant.

As you said it is a CASA requirement, so how would you tell people to operate their seatbelt :?:

Over the years I've done it many ways and everyday seems to make someone uncomfortable.
