New QFF Status Renewal Packs?

what colour suits?

(there's always one ;) )

I’m not sure, I don’t want something that everyone else has, so red is out, and I think orange is more of a Lamborghini colour, but I think I’d be heading that way.

How about white with a black racing stripe :)

I got downgraded from WP to SG and I got the exact same pack.

Interesting, I would have thought a change in status would include bag tags.

So following this theme do P1 get Christina Hendricks answering their priority line?

Not worth it unless it's a video call ;) Not sure if Qantas stock her size, but that doesn't matter, right?

OK.... moving on....

Hmmm...we are getting more economical. Then again, they'd already started it anyway with the "half-books" I got the last time I requalified for WP.

I just finished getting the last SCs to push me over the 1200 SC mark again. Looks like I'll be getting a fold-out book too.

My suspicion is, and probably would be, renewal 'packs' are always different to those who are newly qualified (or requalified). Makes sense.

I'm not too concerned in any case. The most important thing is stuck to the letter anyway.

Now that I think about it, my last Air NZ Silver pack (via soft downgrade) came in a similar packaging as depicted. No bag tags either (if Silver NZ still get any bag tags, that is); just the card (oy vey they are rather ugly) and two lounge passes.

Newly qualified member in my household who got the Gold pack including luggage RFID tags in the new minimal package. Not quite as clever as the Virgin pack.

No, my letter says "Inside you'll find a summary of your privileges together with your new Gold card, which can be used with your existing Q Bag Tags".

Got my Gold card stuck to the inside of the letter, on the "wheat" page above the wording "Your Gold Privileges".

Ah, kinda what I thought.. doesn't make much sense to keep sending out 2 new bag tags every year. Just checked and mine (gold pack) is the same. In comparison to my silver pack from October it is a fairly similar layout with a different girl.

I don't know what the "old" renewal pack looks like because this membership year I have qualified PS for the first time, same with SG and with my forward bookings will be WP in a couple of months if all goes to plan! (thanks to AFF)

Do you have any photos of the old pack/letter?

My qual pack for WP last year was like this. I received my QP/PS and SG cards and tags in the boxes per the original Q card and nae bag tag launch. Attaining WP and getting an envelope rather than a box was undrwhelming. But it was my third set of card & bag tags for the year (qualified for WP in May).:p

My SG qual pack received last month was exactly the same as the requal one, except perhaps with some of the wordings printed. Same type of paper, same girl.

They say to use my existing bag tags. Which does pose a few interesting questions.

Congratulations on the impending Plat attainment.

I searched my QFF folder however last years membership packaging didn't make it in - I had been doing a clean up and either they were underwhelming and I threw them out, or they were too big or boxy and I lightened the load and bulk in my filing cabinet.

I do have ones back in the late 80's, early 90's though ...

Renewal letters fall into the same category as amenity packs, on-board magazines, video selection and bag-tags: "you can't please everyone all the time". Earlier this week Qantas were taking a beating in another thread about the amount of plastic they use and how it's so bad for the environment, yet a 'green' renewal letter is "underwhelming" to quote another correspondent. My point of comparison is the recent DJ Plat box I was sent, it was so over the top with slide-out plastic flaps and metallic bolt bag-tags that I just couldn't stop giggling at it while I put it all together. Lucky I'm an engineer, I have no idea how a liberal arts major would have done it ;)

I actually really like the DJ/VA bag tags and metal ties - probably the best thing for me to come for the status match. I prefer the single piece bag tags that AA use as well.

Thanks, what are the ones from the 80s like?

I've already had my first metal tie fail - lucky it was in the office and I caught my FF cards. The metal end separated from the rope, so presume I can superglue it back in place.

Even the P1 packs were similarly designed, although they were in a brushed metal. Really underwhelming, but when you see how they "differentiated" the W1 card from the WP card, you should not be surprised.

I am underwhelemed by all of this, and it makes me think that they have a team of grade 6 students running their design department (or are being scammed by their external advertising support).

The priority of bags is loaded onto the bag tag at the time of checking-in, so it doesn’t matter if you’re a Silver with CL Q Bag Tags, you’re not going to get your bags out first (and you hardly ever don with QF anyway) :p

Unless that wasn’t your question?

The bag tags are merely a constant ID tag with a set RFID number - so when you check it in, it is linked to your booking and inherits the rights (priority, business tags, first tags) from your booking. It doesn't matter what colour they are.

That’s what I said, less technically…
