New QF A380 reconfiguration!!!

No issues being held back, but paraded through the F cabin, upstairs to the lounge, and back down again before takeoff seems a little badly thought out.

Maybe paraded dressed as such...

Just to make up for the toilet shortfall offerings...

Interesting in the press release it notes "... additional capacity has been accommodated by the reduction in the Business cabin and some reshuffling of the cabin interiors such as the galleys, partitions/walls and closets"

No mention of the number of toilets being reduced or most of the self service bars being removed.

Row 36 UD whY looks interesting as well, with the door of the toilet right next to them and the curtain flapping in their faces all the time (not to mention the smell  )

is OQD back doing flights?

It seems a lot of speculation, but wouldn't the feedback be better until after people have been on the actual config and have experienced it?

The same went for the refurbed 747's. Seemed that the feedback was fairly negative before hand, yet those who have been on the refurbs have actually found some positives to it...

Food for thought...... Yes! But even without boarding the said a/c yet.. the obvious reduction in comfort facilities & additional seating & the wonky layout... I guarantee a demise in levels of comfort for all concerned.

The way I perceive the posts in this thread is constructive criticism..

I also look forward to feedback in regard to the new layout (post flight)

Wow, it seems the new configuration is not popular. I must admit I will wait until I have tried it to see whether I have any comments.

Reading this thread however brings me back to my ever consuming thought...... If Qantas just loved their passengers they wouldn't get all this continual negative.

forget the thread miss emily. what's with the avitar? all very 'I'm a Lady' love it!

The thing is, that the PE cabin was excellent. Very self contained. A self service bar. Not too many people. Everyone with the same entitlements. Now, that has all gone with the new layout. No more self service. Different "class" with different seats. Fewer toilets. They messed with a good product.

Yes it is. Seems first flight back was QF 11 on the 20th. It was interesting watching the boarding from 49A. The 3 people in row 48 were descretly taken to the business lounge during boarding. I think if you had these seats you would want to board early to get overhead locker space, but otherwise I think it was handled well.
I didn't look upstairs, but I did hear that one of the seats is very difficult to access.

What happens if F/J pax are in the lounge already due to pre-boarding? Surely the FA can't ask them to leave?

Well, the FAs can ask you to do pretty much anything, and whilst on the ground they have the AFP to back them up ;). As much as I dislike Skybeds they're a much more sensible place to wait for departure than the J lounge.

Looking at the seat map it seems the Upstairs Economy folks in Rows 35 & 36 especially, will see little outside the plane
Might feel like they are peering outside of a cave

I thought that as well but then when I compared the two different seat maps (old and new fit out) it seems that the window arrangement in that area is different. Having flown up the back on the old fit out I assume that the seat map for the old fit out has the windows in the correct places which means that there should be more than one window in that back cabin - at least you would want to hope so!

They have IFE with tail-cam if they want to see outside… or alternatively they’re deep discount seats that don’t come with windows :p

35D seems to have a very good view of the toilet. Yet it is also an exit row seat so I take it Qantas will be charging more for it. Hard to tell from the seat plan but 36D seems to have a wall next to, looks like it might be hard to get into.

But on the plus side for economy row 32 it is looking pretty good. It is an upstairs bulkhead row and appears to have plenty of leg room. Also there are no bassinet positions in this row. As it is just a bulkhead row (and not an exit row) it should be available for no extra charge.

And note only two abreast at 32-33 A,B/J,K. Anything that avoids the middle seat on the side sections of whY has got to be a bonus.

I just had a look on E/F and as a WP I can select any seat on the UD in Y except row 35 which is blocked. Row 36 is already allocated. On lower deck, 48 is blocked also.

Using the other half's SG number on E/F, everything is blocked on UD except row 34. So looks as if UD is domain of the WPs.

Not ture.
My mum has a HKG->SYD ticket, she has no status NB and can pay $20 to have UD Y.

Maybe we can call the bit back there 'Emerald Village' :p.
